About Me

The Past Present Organisation take movie soundtracks, jazz and exotica from the 60s and 70s and wrap them up in contemporary beats and pop sensibilities,(someone else wrote that, not us).Their 2002 debut 'Some Hotel This Turned Out To Be' by John Winfield, Keith Osborne and Matt Cox under the PPO banner followed their production work on Jackie Joyce (aka Helicopter Girl)'s Mercury-nominated debut. A second album with Helicopter Girl also included a reworking of the track 'Beautyfull' (renamed 'Umbrellas in the Rain'), which most flatteringly remains a featured track on many a person's myspace page! After this and a repatriation of one third of the line-up, a busy period of making music for adverts ensued and the beginning of collaborations with acts such as Luckyhorse, Paul Mosley, Abigail Hopkins, Garlic and Stations of the West. Meanwhile The Funking Barstewards and Reuben's Train, two slightly surreal alter ego projects, still managed to trundle on in a statesmanlike manner.Their new record 'Conkers' will be out soon and it includes the lively 'Itchy Feet', an Austin Powers styled dance floor bruiser mixes funky breakbeats, big band blasts, huge hammond stabs and a little bit of 50's rock'n roll guitar to guarantee the song lives up to it's title and was recorded before Mark Ronson left school.More recently the PPO have been working with new bands and songwriters, the fruits of which will be regularly aired on this site, highlighting a more 'acoustic' side to their productions. If you like the sounds and have a song, track or album that needs a certain something, why not get in touch? The Past Present Organisation - Adventures into the exciting sound of yesterday, today and tomorrow, ( someone else said that bit, not us).
