You would think that a child who spun his mom & dad’s record collection while pretending to be a live, on-air radio DJ would be dead-set on choosing music as a future profession. Not Eric Huffman though.
Better late than never.
Eric’s interest in music took root within the rolling mountains of West Virginia, where he was born and raised. His earliest recollections of country music put him in a blue ’79 Chevy stepside sandwiched between his father and brother. “Dixieland Delight†and “The Closer You Get†were just as essential on fishing trips as the rod and reels that lay in the truck bed.
Through his siblings and variety of friends, Eric was exposed to other musical genres as well. His rebellious adolescent years were saturated with heavy metal and rap. However, one listen of Garth Brooks’ “No Fences†CD and Huffman instantaneously knew what he wanted to do with his life. Soon after, Eric spent more time teaching himself guitar than completing his homework. He then started entering singing competitions around north central West Virginia. The audience responses were overwhelming and only pushed him harder to pursue his dream. After becoming a five-year mainstay at local country music shows, Eric decided to jump to Nashville.
It was in Music City where Eric started honing his songwriting skills and developing his own style. He has taken his various musical influences and concocted a hybrid-one-of-a-kind-yet-commercial sound. Huffman hopes to leave his mark on country music with the many others that blazed the trail before him.
