About Me

My name is Tommy aka Tom T and I play guitar, compose music, and I am also a lyricist in the MC sense of the word. I mostly play guitar right now and the group I'm working in is the Kris Kimura Quartet/Quintet. For my full bio you can check out his website thekkq.net and also see where and when I'm playing. ............................................................ ..................................................... About the Tracks: "Tha Lite" is a track I did with Sir Charles of Double Dime Productions. The track is his and that's him rhyming on the second verse. Scratches by DJ Sean Cee. "Ritual" is a song which I composed and arranged for Gonsemble. KC of Gonsemble wrote the lyrics and did all vocal arranging. To hear some more of my writing check out Gonsemble's myspace page. Please note I am not playing guitar on the Gonsemble track, that's my man Randal Naranjo, who's in the band now. My guitar playing is not featured on these selections of music because I don't have anything current with me playing guitar on it that I am satisfied with enough to post. I am working on it though, and more hip hop tracks. Until then you will have to come see me play live. ............................................................ ................................................... Ten Albums That Changed My Life:1.The Roots- "Do You Want More?(1995)"- I have probably heard this album more times than any other album in my life. Me and my man Gengee can recite you every word off of every song on this album.2.Miles Davis- "Four And More(1964)"- One of the first jazz records I ever owned. Tony Williams is by definition burnin' on this album.3.Jimi Hendrix- "Axis Bold As Love(1967)"- My favorite Jimi album. This one and Band Of Gypsys.4.Run-DMC- "Run-DMC(1984)"- The first music I first fell in love with as a kid was hip hop. I had been listening to groups like Afrikka Bambatta and the Soulsonic Force, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and The Fat Boys. Then I heard this record and I was officially a B-boy for life. Still sounds dope to me even today.5.Wes Montgomery- "Full House(1962)"- This is the first Wes record I ever owned. Wes is swingin' his ass off with Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, and Johnny Griffin on tenor saxophone. Still one of my favorite Wes records.6.Wayne Shorter- "Speak No Evil(1964)"- Swingin' ass science fiction jazz.7.A Tribe Called Quest- "The Low End Theory(1991)"- All I got to say is: "Thanks alot Ron Carter is on the bass, yeah my man Ron Carter is on the bass." Midnight Marauders is classic hip hop sickness too.8.Aceyalone- "All Balls Don't Bounce(1995)"- I remember seeing Freestyle Fellowship's "Boundaries" video on Rap City back in the day and thinking it was cool. But at that time I really had no idea about the west coast underground hip hop movement. Then some friends who had moved to Texas from Cali said, "Have you heard Aceyalone?" "Who?" I said. Then they showed me this album and my jaw hit the floor. That was about 1996.9.Barney Kessel- "The Poll Winners Ride Again(1958)"- By far my favorite Barney Kessel album and in my opinion one of the best guitar, bass, drums trio records ever recorded.10.D'Angelo- "Voodoo(2000)"- D'Angelo is the best R&B artist since Prince, period.
