BB STEAL

Australian Hard Rock Band

About Me

.. ..It all began in a dingy little cockroach infested Sydney unit in the 80’s. Lead singer, Craig Csongrady relocated from Adelaide to Sydney to form a hard rock band. With influences ranging from AC/DC & Led Zeppelin to Elton John, Craig began writing songs with some very talented muso’s. After a short time, ‘Boss’, the band was formed and within two months a publishing deal with Warner Bros was signed. The band managed to write an album of really strong songs whilst touring which caught the ears of RCA Records and the debut album ‘Step On It’ was recorded and released in 16 countries. Boss continued to tour Australia and before to long a large following of hard rock supporters flocked to the venues. ‘Step On It’ is still selling in countries around the world and is classed as a classic by purists. In 1988 the band changed its name from Boss to BB Steal (Beg Borrow Steal). The reasoning behind this change was due to some confusion with Bruce Springstein’s nickname ‘The Boss’ and other products with the same name. BB Steal wrote another bunch of killer tunes and after leaving RCA they signed a deal with Phonogram Records. During the early 90’s BB Steal began recording again, this time in Los Angeles and Canada (Montreal). The new album, ‘On The Edge’, was engineered by Rob Jacobs (Bon Jovi, Eagles, Don Henley) and Pete Woodroffe (Def Leppard) with drums by Scott Crago (Eagles), bass guitary by Andy Cichon (Shania Twain, Billy Joel & Madonna) and rhythm guitar / backing vocals / co-production by Phil Collen (Def Leppard). BB Steal met and performed some shows with Def Leppard in the 80’s when an instant bond was forged between Csongrady & Collen who shared many similar influences and tastes in music. BB Steal was then called upon to do the support during the Australian leg of the Def Leppard tour in the early 90’s. Not long after ‘On The Edge’ was released in 20 countries world wide, is still selling and is much loved by fans.In the mid 90’s BB Steal took a break to pursue some of their personal projects. BB Steal has since reformed and written a new, long-awaited, album titled ‘Resurrection’. Peter Blyton was commissioned to produce the new material and was so impressed with what he heard that he volunteered his services. The band members are:Craig Csongrady (lead vocals) Tony McDowell (lead guitar) Shane Grahovac (lead & rhythm guitar) Louis Halkias (drums) Missy Walker (keyboards)BB Steal have been playing in Adelaide and Sydney, have been busy rehearsing and will continue to do shows, both locally and interstate, to promote the new album. There is already a big vibe for the new album from local and o/s fans waiting for the release.
