About Me
From the Four Corners, USA, Methuselah Burning started playing, but not necessarily together, in late 2006. Cramped in a small, humid room, MB recorded their first and roughest demo: Son of Vengeance.
With proof of their ability to record with decent quality, MB started to think of a more diverse and less repetitive song. Soon, the song Sthorngard was born. A rough version without vocals was recorded. After a few days of recording, the complete version (with vocals), was finished.
Looking for another sound, MB began on a new song: Yde, a sort of a tribute to the Yde Girl , found in a bog in the Netherlands.
With the Embrace of Fog was derived from the common feeling that's present when it rains here in New Mexico. Powerful rain storms fueled the production of this song, which took over 4 weeks to fully complete (which makes us laugh about it now). After finally completing the dozens upon dozens of key layering (due to not much knowledge of keys), along with guitar and drums, vocals were added.
With new member, DARRELL, added to our lineup, MB had a roster that worked. ELLINGTON on drums, HOGUE on guitar, MADRID was Keys, and DARRELL on guitar and vocals. MB then re-recorded Sthorngard, adding new lines and using completely different vocals.
In late October, ELLINGTON left the band.
Influenced by George Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead and the loss of a vital band member, a new instrumental track was born. Hope is a track with dialogue from the 1968 film.
With NIXON and HEATH now added to the roster, MB was complete. ELLINGTON is back, now performing lead vocals.
Revile was the first song with a full line-up, with the exception of keys. After marathon recording, the track was complete.
In mid-January, MOOSHA joined MB. Also, NIXON left the band.
In Early March, MARK, formerly of the local heavy metal band The Horny Toads Joined our lineup as the bass guitarist.
Methuselah Burning was honored to open for Joey Belladonna, former ANTHRAX vocalist on April 23, 2008 at Gator's Bar & Grill.
In late April, MOOSHA was officially let go.
Methuselah Burning is now looking for a full-time Keyboardist. (See Blog)
Snowblind, using a different tuning and a definite heavier, "doomier" sound was the next song produced, though it has yet to be officially released.
Next, Brightest in the Sky was recorded with a dear friend in mind. This is also yet to be released.
Methuselah Burning has played a few more local shows, and also played at Camp-Out Jam-Out, a two-day music festival with Place of Torment, Facing Ra, American Death Squad, Burning Moths, our close friends Eclectic Resource, and others near Chama, NM on June 28th and 29th.
A new song was composed by DARRELL and it definitely has a different sound from previous works. "The God They'll Never Know" is a track that will be soon released when MB finds a better way to record vocals. It is a song that will definitely inspire you to bang your head.
Currently, Methuselah Burning is working on incorporating different musical styles that add more complexity, passion, and a darker element, and will even be featuring female vocals (performed by BRYTTNIE LUCAS) on an upcoming song entitled Led Astray.
