The Checkered Flags are a studio band at this point. It is basically the creation of Scott Wahlberg. So far we have been recording at Cheritri Studios in Whitman and at SLiK Home Studio in Holbrook. We have one CD Single being readied for release soon (Ghost Race b/w Prettiest Girl on the Beach).Ghost Race is rockin Hot Rod song recorded at 165 beats per min. complete with hot rod sound effects. The Prettiest Girl on the Beach was written for Scotts daughter Melissa. It is a surf instrumental ballad with a Duane Eddy style guitar line. We are currently writing some more songs to record. If you share interest in Surf and Hot Rod music email me. I would love to chat and perhaps jam. If you are a car enthusiast and have a hot rod, we are looking for photos to use as a cd cover and/or gatefold. Thanks for checking us out and watch for updates frequently! Thanks and enjoy! Also we would like to note all of the artwork for our CD and jewel cases are done by the incredible Sandra X. Legnon. Thanks Sandi!!!!

Band Members: Ghost Race: Scott W. (Lead & Rhythm guitar)Pretties Girl on the Beach: Scott W. (Lead Guitar)Coming Home: Scott W. (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar)Slide Guitar, Dobro, Mandolin on other songs also played by Scott W.
Influences: Brian Wilson would probably be the biggest influence on my music playing. He is an inspiration and hero for all he has overcome, musically and personally. Seeing 'Smile' come out was a turning point for me, and I had the luck and pleasure to see the Smile Tour 4 times. I look forward to next month when we get to see the Pet Sounds anniversary tour also. I am proud to be going to one of only a few US Shows. Some other influences would include Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, Jim Fuller from the Surfaris, Dick Dale, Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and the usual 70s assortment. That is just to name a few, we would never be permitted to have enough space to list all of my inspirational musicians!!Over the past few years I tend to like the surf guitar players. The older I get, I just seem to like a cleaner guitar sound and have always loved reverb. ~~Scott
