About Me
In the world of Hip Hop today it seems that everyone wants to rap about hustling, survival, and street life. There's alot that sets Anthony "Tony Ducks" Moultrie, self-proclaimed 'King of the City', apart from your average rapper.Born and raised on the Lower Northeast side of Columbia (Prince City), South Carolina (South Land), Ducks' developed his skill and craft when he and some of his high school buddies began recording in best friend and future partner, Larry "Improv" Rush's, living room. " I met Improv in like the tenth grade or something man, we was in summer school", explains Ducks'. "I was the rapper and he was the DJ, it was like the perfect connection". " He was into the same kind of music I was into, Hip Hop". The group, simply known as S.S.E., and its fore front lyricist grew a major reputation throughout their high school years after the releases of three well put together mixtapes. "One of em was a battle mixtape we made against one of our rival crews, them niggas was some straight up haters", Ducks' explains. "We had ta get em, that was like our first or second mixtape". "Lets just say we pissed a few niggas off after we released it and let it leak around the campus for a while".In a plan to market their music and establish a name for themselves, the group began performing locally and Ducks' had his first single, "King of the City", playing on a local radio station. "It was a song that me and Improv's cousin, Max Millz, recorded produced by Improv". "We submitted it to the radio for the make it or break it thing they do for local artists", says Ducks'. "It played for a couple of weeks, it still wasn't enough ta get me a strong buzz like I wanted". After high school the once close knit, tight as a fist group of friends began to separate and focus on different goals and aspirations in life. Fortunately, the ambition and determination never left from the groups founders.Ducks' and label co-CEO Improv, who are now residing in Atlanta temporarily, continue to create and work on building a musical empire that will hopefully one day leave a legacy like Motown did in the entertainment industry. "We like the young Roc A Fellas man". "Im Jay and Improv's Dame". "Hopefully it'll end up better than their relationship did though, im quite sure it will", says Ducks'. Backed with production by in house producers; Max Millz, and Improv, along with Jorge Shuler AKA "Nature Boy", this black poet has never lost and never will loose his rhythm. "That nigga Millz is sick wit it man!" an exciting Ducks' explains. "He's very soul influenced plus he's a rapper too, the nigga can spit man seriously".In late 2006 /early 07, Tony Ducks plans on releasing his first single
and his mixtape entittled, "The Road Home", which is sure to blaze the streets of Atlanta and his hometown of Columbia, and put Prince City officialy on the map. "The reason why I decided to name the mixtape 'The Road Home' was because me being in Atlanta and away from home makes me realize how valuable home is", explains Ducks'. "I get home sick everyday while im down here, thats why I make sure I visit home as often as i can." "Im still respected there and niggas know me, thats why im the King". Versitality along with the positive response from the streets are two reasons why this artist is going to rise to the top.Bio written by Jorge Shuler and Anthony MoultrieEdited by Larry Rush
