About Me

Start Over by The Standalone .

If you want something done right, you do it yourself. That's the mindset adopted by Hans v when he started work on One, the debut EP from his project The Standalone. Forgoing a studio, producer, and an actual "band," he started writing for his first musical endeavor himself. The end result mixes melodic alternative and Portland indie DIY sensibilities with positive and pensive lyrics.

The Standalone is the one-man melodic alternative band of Hans van de Bruggen. The music mixes full guitars with thick harmonies, with melody always at the core. The sound has been compared to Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, Mae, and Copeland. He is joined live by a rotating band which includes Tyson Kingrey (guitar/vocals), Scott Funkhouser (bass/keys/vocals), Todd Dahlhoff (bass/keys/vocals), and Harrison Edwards (drums).
