Η Σάρκα φτιάχτηκε το 1989 στο Ηράκλειο της Κρήτης απο τους Δημήτρη Πολυχρονάκη (κιθάρες, φωνητικά) , Μανώλη Σφακιανάκη (μπάσσο) και Κώστα (punk) Σφακιανάκη (τύμπανα). Τα δυο αδέλφια υπήρξαν ιδρυτικά μέλη των θρυλικών Sex Beat (1984) ενώ ο Μανώλης και ο Δημήτρης ειναι τα σταθερά μέλη της σημερνής Σάρκας , 20 χρόνια μετά, ενώ ο Κώστας συμμετέχει με τον δικό του τρόπο. Το 1989 λοιπόν , στη μικρή τοπική ανεξάρτητη "Εκμετάλευση tapes" (www.myspace.com/exploitationtapes) κυκλοφορούν τη πρώτη τους δουλειά σε κασσέτα , με τίτλο "Ονειρο Βαφής Χειλιών" και το 1991 στην ίδια εταιρια την "The Banana Cassette" που ήταν όλος ο δίσκος των Velvet Underground διασκευασμένος με πανκ -και όχι μόνο άποψη.Αργότερα , τον ίδιο χρόνο,κυκλοφόρησαν ενα τραγούδι με τον τίτλο "Τρέλλα" στη 7" συλλογή του περιοδικού "Στις Σκιές του Β-23" , Fragmenta II . Ηταν η πρώτη φορά που ρόκ μπάντα απο την Κρήτη έμπαινε επίσημα στην δισκογραφία των 7" σινγκλς βυνιλίου! Λίγο αργότερα συμμετέχουν σε μια βίντεο-συλλογή που ονομαζοταν "The Optic-Acoustic Bomb" με δύο τραγούδια σε ζωντανή εμφάνιση (Χρήμα, Ποπ Κορίτσια) που εκδόθηκε απο μια μικρή ανεξάρτητη εταιρια , την Fifth Dimension , μαζί με άλλα συγκροτήματα της τότε σκηνής. Το 1993 , σε μια άλλη , μικρή και πρωτοπόρα για την εποχή της εταιρία, ονόματι "Elfish Records" , κυκλοφορούν το πρώτο τους ολοκληρωμένο άλμπουμ , σε δίσκο βυνιλίου μόνο , με τον τίτλο "Εσωτερικότητα Στο Αγριο Εξω". Και πάλι ήταν η πρώτη φορά , που μπάντα απο τη Κρήτη κυκλοφόρησε επίσημα αλμπουμ!Το 1997 συμμετέχουν με το τραγούδι "Ηχητική Νεότητα" στη συλλογή του γκαραζ-πανκ περιοδικού "The Thing".Μαζί με το "Οι Φίλοι μου" και "Το πιο Επικίνδυνο Βλέμμα" που ακόύστηκαν στο soundtrack της ταινίας "Του κανενός το Ρόδο" , με τον Αλέξη Γεωργούλη και τη Σοφία Νομικού , που προβλήθηκε στο 23ο φεστιβάλ της Δράμας το 2000,ανήκουν στην επόμενη δισκογραφική δουλειά τους που εκδόθηκε το 1999 , με τον τίτλο "Πολίτης Του Kόσμου" μόνο σε cd αυτή τη φορά και απο την ανεξάρτητη Wipeout Records. Η νέα τους δισκογραφική δουλειά βρίσκεται στο τελικό στάδιο και αναμένεται μεσα στο 2010.

Sarka is the Greek word for Flesh.
The band was formed in 1989 at Heraklion , Crete , Greece.The original members were Dimitris Polychronakis (guitars,vocals) , Manolis Sfakianakis (bass) and Kostas (Punk) Sfakianakis (drums). The two first members are still with the band and Kostas is with them in his own way.
The same year they released in a small local independent label called "Exploitation Tapes" ,their first tape called "A Dream of Dye of Lips".
In 1991 followed in the same label "The Banana Cassette" which was a cover of the first album of Velvet Underground , recorded live with a punk attitude.
Later, the same year they released one more song in a 7" single split Ep titled "Fragmenta II" , a compilation of a fanzine called "In the Shadows of B23".The song was titled "Madness" and it was the first time ever that a rock band from the island of Crete made an official 7" record!!!
A liitle bit later they released two more songs in a Video-Compilation of the small Greek label "Fifth Dimension" with all the Greek Alternative bands of the time. The compilation was "The Optic-Acoustic bomb" and the songs were "Money" and "Pop Girls".
In 1993 in another small Greek label called "Elfish Records" they release their first -LP only-complete album called "Inwardness at the Wild Outside" and it was the first time ever,again , that a rock band from the island of Crete had an official LP release!!!
In 1997 they participate with the song "Sonic Youth" in a cd compilation of a garage-punk fanzine called "The Thing"
In 1999 their second album was released , this time on cd, titled "Citizen of The World" , and it was released from the "Wipe Out" independent label.
Some songs of this album were used as a soundtrack of a short film called "Nobody's Rose" whick was presented in the 23rd Short Films Festival of Drama in 2000.
Now they are recording material for their next album which will be released sometime , hopefully this year.
