About Me

This powerful seven piece local indigenous band from Cairns, Queensland, Australia bring to you original material a blend. of Blues Rock and folk.2 year history performing together and focusing on developing their own and unique sound, reflecting their culture and life experiences.Performance history so far are Laura Dance Festival 2005,Yungaburra Folk Festival 2005 – 2006,Wallaby Creek Festival 2005 – 2006, Naidoc performances in Kuranda & Munro Martin Park Cairns 2006 & numerous performances at Johno’s Night Club 2005 -2006.Narelle Whitla- Keyboards Narelle has performed since the age of eight and competed in many Junior Eisteddfods throughout her career. Before joining up with the Soul Gypsies and eventually Fade to Black. She is just such an amazing talent. . Deb Sisson- Bass and keyboards Presently a music teacher at TnqiTAFE and an accomplished musician, she was instrumental in starting some memorable bands such as- One Drop Reggae Band, Broken Inglish (Cairns), Talkin’ Story (Newcastle), Akalaka (Sydney) and Forte ( the original Shakaya). She has been a valuable member of various bands including Skank, I&I Reggae, Dub Smugglers, The Descendants, Mi 5 And Has Played On 6 CD’s Including Miles Bing Ilan Talk & Jjj With The Naturals Mystics.Eloise Ingram (Indinji Gimawy of cairns Yarrabah) – lead vocals and acoustic guitar With nearly 20 yrs experience she has played with bands Bunjil Narook (Vic) Woven Spiell, Soul Gypsies (Cairns) When she is not playing with a band she continues with her solo career. ‘This is where I am’ Premonitions album Black voices of the Far north and ‘You only live Once’ single is presently played on Bumma Bippera and community radios throughout the region. Schooner Oliver – Drums (Indiji of Cairns) With over 30 years experience in the Cairns region Schooner brings to the band heartfelt beats developed in popular bands such as “High Tide” and “Late Notice.”David Oui – (Torres Strait/Mareeba) –Lead guitar Admired for his dedicated guitar solos in ‘One Drop Reggae Band’Rachel Sheilds – Backup vocals and percussion A solo performer in her own right she has recently released her own CD ‘The Dragon and The Butterfly.’ Jacinta Arnold – Backup vocals- Praised for her highly trained voice and experience in the Cairns Choral Society, Jacinta has been an award winning vocalist and an accomplished pianist from a very early age.
