Bethany was born in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1982, just two and a half years before she began to play the violin. She says that before her mother met her father, her mom dreamed of one day having a little girl who played the violin. That dream is evidence in Bethany’s mind that the Lord created her to worship Him through music. She says, “There is just something about pulling the bow across the string that resonates deep in my soul.â€
She spent her first ten years studying classical violin with the late Helen Robertson, a 50 year veteran of the Ft. Worth Symphony, who not only nurtured her technically, but also instilled in her a passion for music.
Bethany has been performing almost as long as she has been playing. In her sophomore year of college she began to branch out from her precise classical training to worship music, bluegrass, and other less rigid genres.
In 2001, she entered the studio for the first time with the Andy Yarborough Band to record the CD project “No Reputation.†They spent the next three years traveling the back roads of Mississippi playing weekend worship engagements. She also spent some time playing in local music venues in Jackson, MS with singer/songwriter Braden Land learning the value of music recorded before 1980, and how to turn absolutely anything into a good fiddle tune.
Since then, Bethany has played on many more albums, most notably "We Believe," and "Big Top Hymns" both worship projects with Ronnie Freeman for the JH Ranch, and the self-titled debut album by Christian band "Rush of Fools." She has also played on the Dove-Award nominated album "Sleepy-time Lullabies" from the Praise Baby Collection. Music videos seem to be Bethany's niche lately as she has played fiddle in videos for country artists and former American Idol contestants Kristy Lee Cook and Kellie Pickler. She has also made guest appearances with the Robbie Seay band, the Brandon Barnyard Opry, and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. Her most recent live performances include the 2008 Winter Wonderland Tour with Christian/Country artists Point of Grace and a special live performance at the 2009 Dove Awards with worship artist Chris Tomlin.
In August of 2006, she relocated to Nashville, TN to broaden her musical horizons. She has absolutely fallen in love with the city from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center to the honkytonks and is excited about what the Lord has for her here! In addition to jamming around town, she can be found leading worship at Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, TN, and Outback America events and playing with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra.
