About Me

I first became interested in music when I was 10, back in 1996, learning to play piano for a period of two years. Having a developing interest in rock guitar music, I soon got bored of the piano and switched to guitar at 11. I practiced dilligently for many years, and played in many rock bands, performing music by artists such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Radiohead. I was also a fan of artists such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and other rock virtuosos. When I was 15, I started playing as the guitarist in the Hampshire Youth Jazz Orchestra (HYJO). I performed extensively with this ensemble, of note playing the Royal Festival Hall in London. I also embarked on a tour of Iceland during my membership. I stayed with HYJO for four years, gaining a lot of valuable experience. I gained my grade 8 on guitar in 2002, and won the 'Morley Scott Musician of the Year' award after leaving school in the same year. At the age of 17, I started develop a fully fledged interest in jazz, mainly fuelled by the extensive playing in HYJO, and started listening to old bebop by Charlie Parker and the alike. I was soon inspired by jazz guitarists such as John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, George Benson, Pat Martino, Jim Hall, Allan Holdsworth and many others. In July 2009, I graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA(Hons) degree in Music. My recent endeavours include work for P&O Cruises, travelling around the Baltic, along with perfomances at Vienne Jazz Festival in France. I also run my own jazz sextet, see the videos below to see it in action! If you need a band to play some jazz/rock//blues/funk/acoustic around the South (up to London), message me and I'll arrange something for you. Likewise, if you need a guitarist to do some session work or a project, let me know!

I'm pretty open minded, and keen to hear and create new and innovative music.*JOHN SARNO is an American physician that cured me of debilitating RSI attributed to playing guitar (a musician's injury, if you will), after I had suffered from the affliction on and off for 3 years. His book, 'The Mindbody Prescription' is a definite recommendation from me to anyone out there suffering from chronic pain of any form, be it in your back, your neck (et al), or in your arms.
Sounds Like: I find it quite hard to label myself, but I love to sweep-pick so probably a little like Frank Gambale, and maybe a dash of Scofield. Ulitmately, I try to play and compose music that is unique sounding.
