About Me
Maurice "Em-Ce" Williams was born to be a star! As a youth coming up in the Queens school system, he always showed an interest in entertainment (especially music). Being a child of the times Em-Ce quickly fell in love with Hip-Hop. He recalls, "I remember it[when he fell in love with hip-hop] like it was yesterday. I was listening to Grand Puba's 'I Like It' in my aunt's Honda coupe; that's when I knew Hip-Hop had to be a part of my life." Em-Ce quickly adated that relization to his life. In third grade, his first year in a new elementary school, he auditioned to rhyme his own rap for the talent show. Unfortunately, censorship even has constraints in the ranks of elementary talent competitions; Em-Ce wasn't allowed to say his rhyme because "rapping was not a talent". However, the next year, he tried again; this time he was to rhyme Mase's verse from "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems". Maurice didn't win the competition, but for him it was the biggest win of his life. "At that point I knew that I wanted to be on stage. I knew I wanted to perform. I knew I wanted to be a rapper!" Keeping his artistic ambitions under-"raps" for a while, Maurice just emmersed himself in hip-hop culture. In eighth grade Maurice became friends with an kid, one year his senior, Jr. Hyde. The two's friendship was strong immediately, and became even stronger when both finally disclosed their aspirations to be rap artists. Immediately Em-Ce and Jr. "YounG" Hyde began joining battle message boards on the internet, having personal freestyle sessions at any spair moment. Eventually YounG purchased a home studio and the two began recording. Em-Ce and YounG started a crew of friends that would be called 'Da UnioN'. This included rappers Quick, 40 Cal, Ish Da Issue, B-Easy and long time friend Hollywood WhiTTy. After working on his skills with his Union family, Em-Ce teamed up with another group, SaHarA where he did work with up-and-coming-Hollis-bread rapper Worst Case and Queens battle monster T-Y. Continuing to learn more and more about his craft Em-Ce, eventually purchased his own home studio where he began to record and perfect his own freestyles. A changing point in Em-Ce's career was when he met J. Dixon, A&R for Disturbing Tha Peace Records. Through their growing relationship Em-Ce has gotten to get custom beats from the lengendary Brand Nubian producer, Alamoe. Em-Ce is currently finishing up his demo to begin shopping around to major and independent labels alike. Em-Ce currently attends Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, where balances life as a student and an artist. As he continues to work with big producers such as Alamoe, Rich Nice and Shatek the Producer, Em-Ce is on the right track to the fame that will never be able to match his drive and love for the music. "I just want to make music, if the people love it, that even better" - spoken like the star he is.
