Dee Sharp was founded on the ruins of Dutch rockband The Trancensors by keyboard player Bastiaan van Staaveren, guitarist Rens Ouwerkerk and bass player Timo van de Kreke in May 2006. Initially, this trio was brought together by their common friend Hugo Snoek who wanted to have a song written about him. Dee Sharp wrote and recorded this song as a birthday present. They enjoyed working together in the newly build Krentenpap Studio in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, so they decided to continue making music together.
All three of them had been members of the above mentioned band The Trancensors, and they now decided to leave that band as a consequence of divergent musical ideas. Influenced by bands such as Pink Floyd, Caravan, Porcupine Tree, Enigma, Kenobi and many more well known names, they developed a style very dissimilar to their previous work.
Their melodious music has a relaxing effect on all ears involved. Their debut album 'Better cheese than worst' is set to be released in early 2009.
