Mykill & Kevin the bongo man a short Bio:Summer 2008 officially formed the Mykill and Kevin the bongo man as an original duo performing dj and live PA sets with long time friends and musical partners Mykill Cini and Kevin Spiteri. The idea, fusing Mykill's Elektro house set with Kevin playing on the latest Digital drums and bongos as percussion while head banging his long hair was an overnight success. After investing in the latest Yamaha 12 piece Digital drum kit and triggers and marrying it with the old fashioned sounds of the bongo/jambee on top of the latest dance anthems and summer tunes plus a keyboard controller triggering samples on Ableton Live, with loads of accappellas and samples from old movies resulting in a unique mix that keeps the dance floor on edge, dancing with their hands up in the air all night! To a selection of the latest Ibiza style Anthems, vocal elektro house and a touch of break beat. Mykill and Kevin met in Junior college back in 1999 and instantly were attracted to each other, musically, and formed various bands and performing at most live venues until they realized it was too much work for very little exposure and they were craving to take it to a bigger audience. The set up proved to be a big success mainly since the two artist have been playing together in bands and clubs for the past 8 years thus establishing a musical chemistry that gels together accentuating the music played with a lot of visuals and samples. This original concept set proved very popular, with the duo releasing their first Cd compilation titled “Bonged!” that included their set recorded live with all the instruments plus 2 original productions which sold many copies and over 500 downloads in the first 2 weeks of release. This was followed by their second release titled “Drumatized” a few months later that doubled their success. The cds also put the act on a higher level plus helped getting bookings in Malta's top clubs, exclusive private events and international gigs in Lebanon, Cyprus and Greece. A Biography of an 8 year over night success.....Mykill Cini born on the 17th April 1980 in Malta. At the tender age of 8 years started playing piano and clarinet which he soon swapped for an electric guitar. Performing as front man guitarist and vocalist in Ska punk bands playing live regularly at the Rock Cafe Malta. In the summer of 1995 teamed up with friends forming a mobile disco organizing some amazing private villa parties. Mykill moved on to get his first residency at club Pitstop in St Julian’s, Malta's Mecca of clubbing. At the same time started working with I.E.L.S. language school as an animator and group leader and soon became the official Dj of the school. For 4 years he was playing at all their events from boat parties to international language school events with over 1500 students at the NSTS beach club and Buskett roadhouse.. In 1999 rented the terrace of Pitstop and opened the super cool BOOGIEBAR. From there Mykill got offered a residency with Axis disco playing 5 times a week at Axis, Numero Uno and Stones Disc, Malta's biggest clubs with capacities of up to 4000 people. Quickly building his reputation for being a very flexible Dj and crowd pleaser with his commanding microphone skills along side Malta’s top Djs and many foreign guests including Freemasons. In the year 2002 Mykill started managing and Djing Sinners Club where he played for 3 years giving some amazing performances and mastering his skills. In summer 2005 Mykill opened his own club BOOGIEBAR 2, establishing his name as an after hours club Dj playing along side Duncan F, Steve Caesar, Miss Roberta, Owen Jay, Mike Grant, and many more of Malta’s finest Djs. Mykill also teamed up with many promoters such as In d’ouse, Xemx promo, MTV Malta, Fetishpromo, Goodearpromo and Shazam to throw some wicked events at Malta’s top clubs such as Axis, Sinners, Boogiebar, Brass Monkey, CandyBox, Grotta, Gianpula, Clique, Red Square, Footloose, Tremors, Empire, Havana, 7ROOMS and other Gozo venues. Mykill studied Communication Studies at the University of Malta where he also used to host his daily radio show on University Radio. In summer 2006 Mykill moved to Ibiza for 6 months where he worked hard and got some gigs in top clubs there and did an Audio Visual course in Spain in the summer of 2006 and build his own Digital recording studio.THE IBIZA EXPERIENCE: Summer 2006 Mykill leaves on a plane to IBIZA and Djs there in any place available from MURPHYS IN Playa Den Bosa , Fiesta Club Playa Den Bosa, to smaller clubs near Space and bar clubs in San Antonio. Ibiza was a life changing six months where Mykill mixed, mingled, got inspired and absorbed all the music, magic and culture of the beautiful IBIZA! Mykill got back to Malta with a record bag full of the latest freshest Ibiza sounds and an experience of the worlds best parties featuring the crème del a cream of the worlds best Djs. Returning at the end of summer to Malta with a bag full of the latest Ibiza music, loads of international contacts and most of all a graduate in the university of Ibiza party island! Mykill was invited to perform in Ibiza for the closing parties summer season 2008.Mykill and Kevin the Bongo man's STYLE: Mykill is a very flexibale dj and total crowd pleaser with his sets ranging from chill out, vocal house to full on elektro and break beats. Always playing a mix of current Ibiza style vocal house with a touch of classic dance floor all time tunes, a lot of Elektro and a mix of break beats highly influenced by the SWEDISH MAFIA HOUSE STYLE using his technique with a lot of looping, scratching, dropping and filtering EFX using the latest Pioneer CDJs1000Mk3 and Pioneers Djm800 mixer. Although coming from a very commercial background they advanced to playing a more vocal house elektro break beatish Ibiza sound using a lot of FX, Jingles, Breaks, Accappellas and knobs. Future projects to play again in Ibiza in summer 2008 closing parties, Dubai, London, Mtv Dance and go to London to study Sound Engineering. Remixed and produced some good tunes available for download on line.
