About Me

THE HIP HOP YEARS
Uno's first proper interest in studio work came whilst still at school in 1987. This involved writing lyrics and regularly practising rhymes on his lunch break over at the late DJ Jazzy's house. DJ Jazzy (a close prodige of Dirty Den, now aka Easygroove), was a master of the bubble scratch and quick mix. The skills displayed by Jazzy urged Uno to pursue DJing rather than MCing. It wasn't until 1989 when Uno had just left school, that he got his first opportunity to mix two records together. This was after being introduced to Risky Biz (One Cut Crew). This was also the first time Uno had ever seen a home recording studio. Uno became a part of the One Cut Crew and performed live as an MC and as a DJ at various events and parties around the South West. Cheltenham student house parties were personal faves. DJing came naturally to Uno from day one and led to numerous bookings and interest from pirate radio stations.
THE DRUM & BASS YEARS
1994 saw a massive change in musical direction for Uno. This was the year he attended his first 'Jungle' rave hosted by Bristol's infamous Ruffneck Ting. Attracted to the big basses and hectic beats, Uno quickly transformed from a Hip Hop Dj to a Drum and Bass or Jungle Dj, as it was commonly known back then. After a few years djing at various events around Bristol, enough money was raised to purchase some pro audio equipment. An Atari, Akai Sampler, Keyboard and a copy of Cubase was the only equipment at hand back then but it was a start in the right direction and enabled the production of a few dubplates back in 1998. Along the journey he has met and become friends with other Drum and Bass artists from Bristol and surrounding areas. This has given him the chance to pick up invaluable studio and production tips. 1999 saw the studio environment change and out went the Atari and in came the PC. 2001 saw his first release on Plan B Recordings (Flynn & Flora) entitled 'Drunken Style/Emergency (PB001)'. Since that first release Uno has upgraded his equipment again and is now getting to grips with Logic Pro 7 using a Mac.
