"New York native David Ralston shows a keen ear for a hook from the start of I've Been Waiting (DRI Records). The title track, a roots-pop confection, marries indelible slide lines to a catchy vocal melody. The formula continues in "Red Wine and Moonshine" before the sound tilts to a snappy, gospel-fueled romp in "Don't Cry" and a raunchy, slide-driven take on Tom Waits' "Big in Japan." Duke Robillard, an early influence of Ralston's, produced the record, but except for the swing of "Jump Tonight," the crafty combination of genres into a new, soulful rock style points more to the guitarist's previous work with Delaney Bramlett."Blues Review Magazine
