Max Passante uses music as his magic wand and has the incredible ability to stir up the energy of a room of party people into joyous dancing and celebration. Irregardless of whether he is playing to a small room or to half a million people, the effect seems to be the same.
At the age of 16 he was a resident DJ in one of the only two clubs on the island of Capri, a chic party island off the coast of Italy. He was always able to find the common ground that connected the diverse musical tastes of his audience because of his natural eclecticity and love of rhythm.
Not content with limiting himself to the four walls of the nightclub, he brought the party to the streets of Capri on New Years Eve 1984-85, unaware he was pioneering a tradition that is now common place in Capri’s famous ancient square and squares all over Italy.
In the same way that he can bring various styles of music together in the same mix, he has the power to attract and connect a diverse set of people and his music has taken him all around the world. It has been a natural progression for someone like this to host his own nights in Italy and the United States, run his own club on the beach in Naples, open the infamous Max Cafe in his hometown, start a record label in London, coordinate music for films and produce his own music in his act, Zero P:M.
In 2006 Max has had the priviledge of being the only DJ to have played at the Colosseum in Rome, playing to an audience of half a million people on a stage only previously graced by four major musical stars; Elton John, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel and Paul McCartney.
Playing as the support DJ with Massive Attack, a band he loves and respects, was sheer bliss, for both Max and his audience.
The truth for Massimo is simple: “I connect with my soul’s purpose when I have a broad array of music at my fingertips and a crowd ready to have fun.. in front of my eyes I can see the energy of the people rising as their bodies keep them dancing and their joy fills the space. Then I am in Heaven!”
