About Me

hhmmmm.......(i have trouble starting conversations...)Hey everybody! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my site. I'm assuming this is where I am supposed to give you the low down on me and bore you with a typical musican type bio (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)...who want's that?Right now I'm playing dobro with Honi Deaton and Dream and it is freakin' awsome! I'm glad to be playing with such a great group of talented and all around cool people. If you haven't heard Honi Deaton and Dream go to the website and check it out!Dobro isn't my only bag though. I started out as a banjo player when I was 10. Somewhere along the way I started adding guitar, bass, dobro, and a few other odds and ends while learning to play jazz, classical ( i majored in classical guitar performance in college), rock, funk, speed-metal, and even dabbling a little in pre-1927 Norwegian redgrass (the little known or believed forerunner of bluegrass)If I think of anything else you need to know about me I'll add it here. If there's anything you want to know about me contact your local congressman, I'm sure they will be happy to overnight you the complete Wayde Powell files. You should take a minute and check out our sponsors (they like for us to say things like that, it makes them feel warm and fuzzy): GHS strings (www.ghsstrings.com), Eastman Strings (www.eastmanstrings.com), Banjo.com (www.banjo.com) First Quality Music Supply (www.fqms.com), Blueridge Guitars (www.sagamusic.com)Bobby McGee ...Honi Deaton/Wayde Powell

Sounds Like: A bunch of notes. But if you wanna get all technical you could say:Southern-Punk-Speedmetal-acidjazzgrass-art music with a neo postmodernism twist on atonality with a hint of progressive minimalism. Makes perfect sense doesn't it?
