Richard Phelps was born in Glasgow in 1973. Discharged early from the Army at 28 on medical grounds (middle child syndrome and itchy bottom) he became a freelance writer. A reclusive character, he spends most of his time in a darkened basement watching an endlessly looped tape of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears having a topless custard pie fight, emerging occasionally to take advantage of any two for one offers at the local Spar. He is married, but not sure to whom.
