Quintana

In 2003 Jesse decided it was time to form his band, recruiting hockey sweetheart Kimi ..Mr.. Anderson on drums. It would be a year before the band had its first real rehearsal. During the course of this year, Jesse added the services of Joonas Turkama on bass, Allu Miikkulainen on guitar and Make Metsola, also on guitar. None of the latter three would still be band members by the time Quintana played their first gig (as JaS) in Karkkila in 2005.It was in England, where he spent two years stalking celebrities in Notting Hill, that Jesse recruited former Whose Mistress guitarist Dass. Jesse loured him to Finland, using pornography as bait.By the end of 2005, Quintana had completed their new line up by securing the services of Peku Somer, a 1.3m bass player and keyboard player, Julle Miikkulainen who, by his own admission always looks like shit and is the brother of the aforementioned Allu. The group briefly included second guitarist Toni Andström but he became surplus to the band..s requirements, as they now had a keyboard player and Jesse suddenly remembered that he could play the guitar.As well as changing members more regularly than they changed their underwear (about once every three months) the group also underwent several name changes. This began when they were forced to give up Jesse..s original idea, Quiet, when he found out that there was at least one other band in Finland with the same name and probably several hundred worldwide. There followed a harrowing period during which a plethora of bad names were floated and sometimes adopted for short periods. Jeesus And The Sandals and Coitus were scandalously overlooked before they settled, finally on Quintana.To date the band has played a handful of gigs in the Helsinki and Espoo area, achieving moments of brilliance, mediocrity and a couple of moments to forget. They produced a demo titled ..Until it goes Click.. in 2006 and shot footage for a video of the song, Pink Skies from the aforementioned demo. Unfortunately, the bulk of the footage was mysteriously misplaced before it could be edited.In the begginning of 2007 Julle informed that he is moving to Kosovo, Kimi left to Korea and Jesse decided that he is gonna grow a few extra branches on the family tree by using studio musicians Pete Asiala, Kai Jämsä, Leevi Leppänen and Rami on the album that is in make at the moment. Dass and Peku have a new band that is called Combover.Although not the most talented members, by virtue of possessing the biggest egos in the band, Jesse and Dass assumed the majority of the song-writing and arrangement responsibilities to date. However, all members are encouraged to experiment and express themselves artistically, while striving to avoid expressing themselves Bon Jovially. The band..s music is best described as not being a fusion of free-form jazz, drum ..n.. bass, country & western, hip hop, trance, techno and folk with a side order of reggae and a twist of linseed oil.
