I started collecting records at a very early age. I worked at a local swap meet at age 9-15 selling 4 & 8 track tapes. At 15 I took over a little indie store in Lawndale, Ca. It was a record store that sold 4 & 8 track tapes. After I built my business up from mostly the kids I knew from my school & around Lawndale, I invested in head shop stuff. I opened the head shop & called it "Mrs. Naturals Nickle Bag". The head shop stayed open until the late 80's. I closed the music side in 1972 when it became illegal to sell the manufactored tapes. At 18 I still wanted to work with music so I kept the head shop but went to work for a chain called Wallachs Music City. Wallachs was the BIG music chain of that time. They actually opened before Tower Records. Later I became a singles buyer at an LA distributor & 1 Stop called Nehi Record Distributors. Nehi also owned the Peaches chain. In 1975 I went to work for The Wherehouse. I stayed at Wherehouse until Trans World bought them a few years ago. I now am the Urban Music Buyer at Trans World. Trans World owns & operates nearly 1,000 stores across the country. Through the years I have also done a number of other things related to the music business. I have been blessed to do the following:* Successful Club DJ * Owned & opreated my own DJ service * Managed acts * Worked as an A&R consultant for several high profile labels. * Executive Produced & A&R of very successful compilations * Created & Executive Produed In Tha Beginning There Was rap that has sold 782,646 units to date. * Created and Produced a TV show called Wherehouse Live. * Produced shows & festivals. * Produced Major Block party events in Los Angeles for several consecutive years. * Source Magazine Power 30 for 5 consecutive years * Member of NARAS* Published writer in many magazines* Wrote liner notes for Top artists* Have been very involved in the careers of many platinum & multi-platinum artists.MUSIC HAS BEEN MY LIFE & I LOVE IT..... I love going to work every day knowing that I am going to hear GREAT new music & help new artists get their start. I love GREAT Customer Service therefore I try very hard to give my best service at all times to those who need my help.Here are some other tidbits about me..... I was on a few episodes of Seinfeld /I LOVE comedy & acting /I am a POP CULTURE fanatic/ I love everything NEW...new movies, new music, trends, fashion, etc. /I play guitar, clarinet and a few other things but not well /I LOVE ANIMALS....have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a tortoise/ LOVE EVERYTHING FROM CHROME HEARTS /Had dinner with Nelson Mandela & a lot of other celebs./Was Queen Latifahs life-line on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire/Was in numerous Music Videos/ Mentioned in several songs & albums to include a Prince song & an Emienem interlude/ Have done interludes & shout outs of many albums/ Found in the Thankyous of 100's of albums to include the legendary "Straight Outta Compton"/ Seen every Led Zeppelin tour/ went bowling with The Who/ Been to a zillion concerts since age 5. /Played in bars with my mom (kind of like the Judds). /Won a lot of display contests. / TV & TiVO fanatic...my first TiVO was out for only 2 weeks & it was only for 14 hours (a relic)/I am a major prankster....LOVE A GOOD PRANK / I love learning new things & try to learn something new everyday /I am writing a book (just started, who knows when it will be finished)marquee direction="left" width="425">
