The Obissy

About Me

Very flamboyant and confident, The Obissy is considered by many of one of the best lyrical rappers in Houston, TX. Known for his creative metaphors, humorous punch lines, and also a swagger like no one has ever witness before. He has a style so unique and a sound so pure that it would be ludicrous to classify him with any other rappers out today.Born in Lagos, The Obissy and his family moved when his was 10 years old to pursue a better life away from all the drugs, crimes, and killing that was going on. They would eventually consider moving to corprate dr. in southwest alief Houston, TX also known as the SWAT, which wasnt that much safer. Growing up in Alief, he noticed the different styles of music that was out there. The southern hip-hop scene was the one thing that caught his eye because of all the metaphors, similes, and punch lines of words that was used in a very lyrical way.As a sophomore in high school, The Obissy first heard people freestyling and battle rapping against each other. He noticed that the person, who won, idolized and exaulted. He eventually liked what he heard and decided to start practicing at making his lyrical ability better. By his senior year in high school, he made a mixtape dissing his school, the teachers, and the faculty. After getting good feedback, he realized that this something he would like to pursue and do for a living. After graduating high school, he continued to write and better his craft as a poet and a lyrical MC. He began shopping his demo around to many local record labels to see if he could get a deal and some studio time. He got a deal with a local record label that was not official, but included studio time for him to record some songs. The deal eventually went sour after no contact was made to further the deal. He finally realized he wanted to make it, he had to everything on his own and independently. He enrolled at Lamar University the following year to follow up on his education status. After meeting a lot of new people, he finally met up with a young producer by the name of, BH, who had his own production company that promoted and marketed up and coming artists. The Obissy knew this was a sign to team up with someone who was already independent to start something that would lead to the future ahead. Within two weeks after meeting, the two began to work on his first installment of a series of mixtapes, The Lethal Weapon Vol. 1, which would indeed be a classic with some of his best freestyles. After getting feedback on the mixtape, The Obissy decided it was time to get serious and do official songs that would label him as a artist. He began to do shows around Houston TX, showcasing his talent and lyrical ability to not be considered as just another rapper. After getting major feedback from all the people at the shows, he decided that this was something he wanted to do for a living. In the process of continuing his education at Lamar University, The Obissy is on the brink of releasing his second installment, The Lethal Weapon Vol. 2: The Sequel, in the early spring of 2008. He is also hard at work oh his highly anticipated LP, The Preview, which would be released in the third or fourth quarter of this year. Following that will be the third installment of The Lethal Weapon Series.
