Immersed in music his whole life. It was evident that Gene would follow the footsteps of his father Gino Scarpelli. Anyone who remembers the name “Scarpelli†would refer it to the lead guitarist of Canada’s rock icons “GODDOâ€â€œWithout a doubt Goddo is one of my biggest influences and in turn my father is one of my most influential guitar players. People often ask if I get frustrated being referred to as the son of Goddo. I myself am quite proud and I know where my roots come from. Without Goddo I may of never got into musicâ€.“I can remember my first paying gig. I was 7 years old and I played on Goddo’s second record “Who Cares†at the end of the record I played the drums on “The Injun Song†they paid me a whole dollar. I later became part of the show when the band played Arena’s and High Schools. They would get me up to do a drum solo after Doug did his drum solo. It was more amusing than anything but after experiencing the audience screaming I new I wanted to be a rock star like my old man. I’d have to say seeing Goddo play at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto With Max Webster was when I decided that music was my lifeâ€.It wasn’t until Gene’s latter teen years that he decided to switch from drums to guitar. “I picked it up pretty quick and started writing songs and put together my first band Short Avenue. I’ve been a guitar player ever sinceâ€. Gene’s past credits include Short Avenue, Scream Freedom and Scarpelli, which featured Gene and his dad doing the guitar duties. Most current Gene was one of the guitar players for "Revolver" which featured Nick Wash from Slick Toxic. Over the years Gene has worked with some of the best-known musicians and bands weather through recordings or live performances.Currently Gene is working on his own material "Scarpelli Gene Pool" and plans are set to record and release this year. Were quite excited about this project and the response has been very encouraging. Our stuff can best be descibed as Badlands meets AC/DC. There is a strong blues influence with a modern hard and heavy sound. Gene also plays in a cover band called “Cottonmouth†which keeps him busy and his chops up to date.
