About Me

Hello Folks, I'm John and living in Belgium. I was born as third in a family of eight children in the French part of the country in a town called Charleroi but moved to the Flemish part to Bruges a few months after I was born, so my native tongue became Dutch instead of French.
I've always had a thing with music, can't remember a time that I wassen't whistling a tune after hearing it one or two times... Anyway, and this is something I regret, it never went as far as learning to play an instrument, or to read music or rhythm, the way my life drifted it just wassen't to be... My only musical endeavour was to write lyrick's for and sing in a never completely formed "Attic" band way back in 79, early 80's called "Moska"...

It took me another 20 or so years and a long wished holiday destination I've been talkin about for ages to make things a wee bit different...
See, it all changed when I first went to Ireland back in 2002...
I've listened to trad before I went to Erin, but driving through the magnificent North-West while listing to Ragnag Radio day after day opened up a whole new world for Me. The end result was, like so many before I came home after that first holiday with a 50 euro Waltons Bodhran. I transferred my Attic (again) into my Sanctuary, a place where I could sit and fool around with the drum undisturbed and more important in consideration of my house mates nerves. These days that Waltons evolved through a few other drums into Loefke, my 14inch Lambeg skinned Metloef (Pic's are in my Photo Section). She's my final drum.
Mind you, despite the Bodhran stuff here on page, I'm NO BODHRAN player, I just like to thumb me shegoat up in The Attic, listening to tunes and playing along “On feel”, only playing for my personal enjoyment and to unwind after a “workin” day...
For me that's more than enough, realy dont need nor do I want more out of it...
A WEE PEEK INTO "THE ATTIC"
