GINA BARKEY has been playing guitar for over 30 years! Can she ROCK?
You better believe SHE CAN ROCK! Not only that, she SINGS! PLAYS GUITAR! AND WRITES HER OWN SONGS!!!GINA BARKEY was born in The Netherlands (also known as Holland)! GINA moved from Europe to America in 1962 with her family as a four year old, she has lived in the U.S. almost all her life! Influenced by the Beatles and Creedence Clearwater Revival while growing up and listening to the radio in the 60's gave her a great soundtrack to real life! GINA became a musician at the age of 7, when she sat down at the organ while Christmas shopping with her parents and started playing a song! Her parents were so amazed that they bought her the organ for Christmas that year! GINA would play the organ for her mother while her mother cooked dinner for the family. The very first song she ever learned to play on the guitar was the Rock'n'Roll song, 'Bad Moon Rising' by Creedence Clearwater Revival!! GINA was playing guitar by the age of 12 and writing original songs by the age of 15! GINA knew by then that singing, songwriting and playing guitar is what she wanted to do in life!
GINA BARKEY has performed 'LIVE' in California and in Hawaii! She has sung solo gigs and occasionally with bands! GINA considers herself more of a "solo artist" and prefers to play guitar as accompaniment! She has lived mainly in Los Angeles County and Orange County, California! GINA has lived in Hawaii for a total of 9 months to go surfing in the islands of Kauai and Oahu! As a teenager, she went out on acting auditions with her father! After filming one commercial, she decided from then on that acting wasn't her thing! At that time, she focussed on MUSIC!!! GINA devoted her time and energy on singing, playing the guitar, writing songs, recording, playing keyboard/synthesizer, the Recorder, drums, tambourine, maracas, congas, etc. Music is a very natural talent of hers but GINA had to work at playing the guitar and sometimes spent 8 hours a day rehearsing songs until they sounded just right! MUSIC has been known to be GINA's first love!GINA BARKEY loves performing 'LIVE'!!! She has performed 'LIVE' at private parties, house parties, colleges, coffeehouses, Fedco stores, talent contests, Church dinners, Art galleries, the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum. In May of 2006, GINA sang with her cousin DEE DEE RAY of the band, THE WARRIORS at the HOLLAND FESTIVAL in Long Beach, California. GINA BARKEY and her cousin DEE DEE RAY sang TOGETHER for the first time ever in front of a crowd of 1,000 people during the Memorial Weekend festivities! On August 31, 2007...GINA performed singing & playing guitar at the SANTA MONICA PROMENADE in Santa Monica, California. Her 'LIVE' performances are very rare and she can show up "on stage" whenever she is called upon!!! GINA's most recent 'LIVE' performance was singing & playing guitar at RAWVOLUTION cafe in Santa Monica, California on September 13, 2007. GINA has been working on a music project for a long time! She will be releasing an album of 14 original songs on her Music Websites!! GINA BARKEY sings, plays ALL the musical instruments and writes her own songs!
