Gorgeous is a French new-folk singer-songwriter, who can be compared with current songwriters like Ray LaMontagne, Ryan Adams, Neal Casal, Joseph Arthur, or bands like the Sunday Drivers, the Turin Brakes, and who is also influenced by guitar players such as Ben Harper.
His cultural background based on repeatedly listening, though quite young, to The Beatles, The Eagles, and Dylan may explain his near obsession with always trying to find the most aesthetic melodies and lyrics combined with very acoustic and "vintage-rock" guitar parts.
After being a part of former cover-band Gorgeoussound, as guitar player/part-time singer, Gorgeous experienced folk music song writing, as well as home-studio recording in the late 90’s.
After a few demos recorded between 2001 & 2003, Gorgeous decided to produce his first album, “Djoon”, on his own.
The record was released in November 2006 and since then has been available in several physical/digital stores, like www.cdbaby.com or iTunes Store.
This first release was welcome quite warmly by the French press magazines such as Keyboards Recording recognising the influence of The Beatles or Dylan in the song writing, or Lylo even qualifying the songs of “MeloDylancolic” ones.
Soon joined by a backing band made up of just a drummer and a bass player, Gorgeous has been performing several concerts in bars and small clubs in and around Paris.
During his live shows, Gorgeous plays on different types of guitars, such as a Resonator on which he performs finger- style picking, or a Lap Steel guitar in addition to his preferred Martin folk guitar and 1972 model Gibson SG.
Gorgeous also sometimes makes use of auto-sampling, creating live loops of different guitar sounds mixed with several backings of his own voice, thus prolonging some of his folk songs into a stronger rocky-band alike style.
Auto-sampling, initially adopted for live performance exclusively, has even more recently inspired the end of one his latest compositions, still to be released...
Incidentally, Gorgeous has begun recording his second LP record for a few months now, which is due in March 2010. He's currently making contact with labels, hoping to be eventually signed up, before the release.

Gorgeous est un singer-songwriter new-folk, rock, à la manière de ses contemporains que sont Ryan Adams, Neal Casal, Ray LaMontagne, ou Fionn Regan, un artiste dont les chansons naissent de la complicité d’une voix et d’une guitare, chansons qui bien qu’écrites au fil d’une époque moderne, restent influencées par la culture folk, celle traditionnellement portée par Bob Dylan.
Disposant d’un home-studio, Gorgeous a auto-produit son premier album, “Djoon”, sorti en Novembre 2006.
Guitare folk, mélodies pop, textes intimistes sous influences pop, rock&folk (The Sunday Drivers, Joseph Arthur, The Counting Crows...) parfois country/blues (Ben Harper), cet album de 11 titres est à dominante acoustique, prenant parfois des tournures vintage-rock, 70's, reflétées par quelques solos au son d’hier tout droit sortis de sa Gibson fétiche, une SG 1972.
Qualifié dès sa sortie par Keyboards Recording de “beatlesien”, voire “dylanien”, l’album est à nouveau chroniqué de manière éloquente en Avril 2007 dans Lylo:
"Les compos enlevées du songwriter laissent transpirer, outre sa maturité vocale, un sacré plaisir dans le maniement des guitares, en trio ou en solo, gorgé d'influences pop-rock, new-folk, voire « mélodylancoliques »."
Accompagné par Karim (Batterie) et Arnaud (Basse/Chant), Gorgeous (Guitares/Chant) a d’ores et déjà conquis le public en Live, en sachant varier les ambiances, acoustiques, électriques, ayant parfois recours à la technique de l’oversampling, ainsi qu’en jouant du visuel toujours saisissant de sa lap steel guitar ou de son resonator.
L’objectif est maintenant de jouer des premières parties, des plateaux en co-réalisations auprès de groupes qui ont déjà un public fidèle, ou dans des festivals, afin d’élargir son propre public et de promouvoir les ventes de l’album, en attendant le suivant...
Gorgeous est en effet en préparation d’un deuxième album, dont les sessions d’enregistrement ont commencé il y a un an. Il est prévu pour mars 2010. Un EP de 5 titres, "Holy Mornings" est déjà prêt à être expédié aux labels...A eux de suivre.
