Garnet

Just mention the name Garnet in his home Country of Jamaica, and you’ll hear and see the response among his musical peers. Garnet is arguably one of the most talented musicians to come out of Jamaica. His style of play and the formation of how he incorporates his knowledge into his music are indescribable. Garnet started the musical journey at the age of 9 or 10 years old, playing the Accordion which along with the Guitar was the only instruments his church had at the time. He soon went on to play the guitar, and was really good at it until the Church got its first Keyboard in 1989. Garnet’s passion for the Guitar and Accordion soon diminished resulting in him learning the keyboard. With the Knowledge already gained from playing the Guitar, he fused both together by the help of God to advance quickly. In 1991 he played for his first group The Legendaries, then to Sons & Daughters Choir, Bro. West & Sons, The Grace Thrillers, etc. In 1995 he played for Gospel Sweethearts Phil& Brenda Nicholas on their Jamaican tour which was his biggest challenge at that time as an upcoming musician. He then toured with the Grace Thrillers from 1996 to 1998. He also played and toured with Carlene Davis, Sandra Brooks, Judy Mowatt, Katalys Crew, and Warrior king. He also backed artists such as Stitchie, Papa San, Luciano, Abijah, George Nooks, Ernie Smith, Marcia Griffiths, Ken Boothe, and Junoir Reid to name a few. In 2001 he joined the Katalys Crew, and was apart of several events and Charities in which the group took part, in cluding: First Sundays unchained ( A charity based organization which provides computer training and assistance for incarcerated inmates), and The Jamaica Cultural development Commission (JCDC) Gospel Festival Celebrations in which he was a band member for six years. He has also shared the stage both locally and internationally with Artists, namely: Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Helen Baylor, Cece Winans, Candi Staton, Jackie McCullough, and Patrick Lundy. To date he has worked on several albums and singles, namely: Katalys Crew, Kerron Ennis, Beloved, Bro West, Reggae for Christ, among others. He is also is in the process of completing his own solo project. Anyone upon hearing this young man will see the manifestation of God through his ministry.
