Stanislav Todorov Trifonov (born October 18, 1966), known as Slavi Trifonov, is a Bulgarian showman, actor, singer and viola player. Trifonov's music genres are chalga and pop-rock, but he has experimented with other genres as a part of Ku-ku Band.
He is the host of Slavi's Show, bTV's late-night talk show. It is styled after the standard U.S. late-night talk shows. Nevertheless, many topics and elements in the show's setup are aimed at providing a specific Bulgarian flavour.
Trifonov is a professionally trained violist. In the early 1990s, together with several of his classmates at NATFIZ, he created Ku-Ku. In 1996, as a cast member of Kanaleto, he took an active role in the protests that eventually led to the fall of the socialist government. He is both loved and hated in his homecountry. His current show is one of the most watched, although he is often criticised for his controversial humour.
Slavi Trifonov is a real phenomenon in the Bulgarian show business and the most important face in the Bulgarian media world. According to sociological surveys Slavi Trifonov is among the top five personalities that enjoy the highest public trust in the country. In the past his rating placed him among personalities like ex-President Peter Stoyanov and mega football star Hristo Stoichkov. Today his ranking is next to such sociological phenomena like Chief Secretary of Inner Minister Boiko Borissov. It is not by chance that during the past ten years Slavi Trifonov has been an idol for a considerable part of the young Bulgarians and a leader having an impact on influencing public opinion.
Since the beginning of the 90-ies Slavi Trifonov and his team have been the most powerful factor for the alienation of the media form political power and for transforming the media in the forth power in the country that is elected by the people every single day. People elect Parliament, mayor and judges every four years, but the vote for Slavi Trifonov is being confirmed every week and every day. Thus, during the last ten years, Slavi Trifonov, not like most of the Bulgarian politicians, has preserved the public trust and turned into a role model, the people’s boy that climbed up the hill of Bulgarian show business to prove that hard work, iron will and a clear final goal can at the end make you successful…
