"THERE COMES A POINT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU REALIZE WHO MATTERS, WHO NEVER DID, WHO WONT ANYMORE, AND WHO ALWAYS WILL...SO DONT WORRY ABOUT PEOPLE FROM YOUR PAST THERE'S A REASON THEY DIDNT MAKE IT TO YOUR FUTURE"
Hello everyone, let me tell you a little about me.
I have two beautiful children that I love very much, but because of where they live I don’t get to see them as much as I would want. When we are together, we spend most of our time with family, and singing in our church choir. I love to sing, play guitar, piano, tell jokes, be goofy, and whatever else it takes to laugh (at myself mostly) and have fun. I left Jersey in 1982, moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and came back in 2002. Twenty years went by in a flash.
"I spent 20 years trying to get out of this place...
I was looking for something I couldn't replace...
I was runnin away from the only thing I've ever known...
Who says you can't go home."
~ Bon Jovi
Wait, let's rewind a bit...
I was born in Newark, down neck, and grew up with my sister primarily in Fairfield, NJ and had a pretty good childhood. I'll expand on this a little more another time. I remember all the Sunday and holiday dinners at my grandparent’s house. The 4th of July cook outs in our back yard with all of our extended family…and a few others that seemed to just appear. Back then, that was just fine. Everyone was welcome.
I’ll never forget the first motorcycle my parents bought for me. I was about 10 years old and even though I was suppose to share it with my sister, I hardly ever stopped riding it long enough for her to get on it…lol. As I got older, I started racing motocross and stayed with it for about 4 years. I raced 2 years for Honda and 2 years for Suzuki. It was some of the best times of my life.
Now that I had a taste for speed, when I turned 16 my focus turned to cars. The first real street hot rod I got was a 1965 Chevy Malibu SS. I could give you all the boring spec’s on it, but trust me when I say it hauled major ass. I raced it down at Englishtown and some streets of Jersey. I would tell ya, but I’m not sure of the statue of limitations…lol. At the same time I had a Kawasaki Spectre 1100, 1970 Challenger R/T 440, 1970 and a 1972 Datsun 240Z. I had a lot of toys and my father had a shit fit. He came home one Saturday afternoon and I had all the cars, parts motorcycles parked in the driveway and he couldn’t get pull in….lol. He gave me one week to thin the herd, so I kept the bike and one of the 240’s and sold the rest. What I wouldn’t give to have just one of those cars back.
I have an uncle that’s 8 years older than me and because of him I started playing guitar when I was about 8. He sang and played guitar in a band that practiced at my grandparents house down neck. And as the years went by they move the band to the basement at my house. Oh I was like this little kid in a candy store…lol. I got to fool around with all the instruments, that was the deal he made with my parents for being able to make all that noise, and I picked up a lot of things. By time I was 14 I had my own band and we started playing at school dances. Playing in that basement just wasn’t cool enough. At 16 years old I joined a band out of Wayne, NJ and I thought we had hit the big time. We played at Mothers (route 23 Wayne,NJ), Hole in the Wall, and a bunch of other clubs I just can’t remember the names. Hey, back in those days no one checked I.D. and everyone else in the band was much older than me. Ahhh good times….really good times.
I’ll write more another time… maybe I'll just put it in a blog.
Later!
"When you can't give no more...
They want it all but you gotta say no...
I'm turnin' off the noise that makes me crazy.
Lookin' back with no regrets...
To forgive is to forget...
I want a little piece of mind to turn to."
