My real name is James Walter Braddock also known as "Cinderella Man", I started calling myself James J. Braddock because of past boxing champions like James J. Corbert and James J. Jefferies. I was born in Hell's Kitchen, just a couple blocks away from Madison Square Garden. I Attended Notre Dame on a football Scholorship. I became a profesional boxer at the age of 21 during my boxing career I fell into a major slump due to injury. I had to stop boxing due to the Great Depression, and times were tough. Luckily in 1934 I was given a chance to fight John "Corn" Griffin and suprisingly won by knockout in the third round. This then gave me a chance to beat two more though boxers in John Henry Lewis and Art Lasky, which I did and gave me a shot at the title against Max Baer. I astoundedly beat him and gained the title on june 13, 1935. I lost my title to a young and great boxer by the name of Joe Louis in 1937. When it was all said and done my career record was 51 wins 26 losses 26 KO's 7 draws, and most importantly I have never been knocked out in 86 career fights. I was inducted into the national boxing hall of fame in 2001.
