Created in 2002 in Geneva, Sigma6 is a group of graphic designers specialized in visual performances. Bringing together a broad spectrum of techniques (graphic design, multimedia, photography, video, etc), its members mix visual performances and VJing. Their experimentations led them to progressively rethink the traditional tools of VJing, replacing classic screens by walls, monuments or even smoke screens. Far from being reduced to its initial function of image projection, the projector becomes a mere vector of shadows and lights. Their bespoke image library participates to the originality of their visual language. The disappearance of spatial limits provides a feeling of visual immersion. Often performing in cult Geneva clubs, such as le ZOO DE L’USINE, the group experimented various forms of video setups.
In 2005, Sigma6 initiated with other European groups the first Geneva MAPPING FESTIVAL, considered today as one of the international meeting points of VJing. In 2007, the group introduced the festival to the first SHARE sessions in Geneva, and is now co-organizing the festival. That same year, Sigma6 has been approached by Emeric di Paolo, to co-realize the SQN project.
