„Being the „director“ of a party and watching the crowd dance gives you the best feeling you can have”, says 1983-born DJ SQ. However, it has been quite a long journey until he finally was allowed to realize his dream - to play for a big audience - for the very first time.His love for Black Music was kindled through his connection to the basketball scene when he was only 12 years old! During the next years he occupied himself more and more with this kind of music and he became a regular guest in cologne’s clubs. It was at that time, when DJ SQ conceived the wish of standing behind the turntables himself. He borrowed some equipment of his friends and tried to spin some tunes…he recorded his first mixtape! Back then he chose the DJ-synonym “Escu”, now “SQ”, which is derived from his partly Rumanian origin.Buying an own equipment and some hard work hustled things along and finally it happened: In 2001 DJ SQ could demonstrate his skills to the crowd in Cologne’s “Teatro” Club. With this performance DJ SQ won over and today he’s spinnin’ in the hottest clubs in germany such as “Nachtflug” (Cologne), “Nachtresidenz” (Düsseldorf) or "China Lounge" (Hamburg). In february 2006 he was invited for the first time to spin some records for the Radio-Show "BEAT Selection" on Europe's NO.1 Black-Music-Radio-Station JAM FM.“I’m addicted to dj-ing – and I never want to get clean.”
