About Me

This MySpace page is set up as a tribute to my dear father Amin Amini the famous Iranian Actor/Director/Writer/Producer/Cinema Icon who passed away on the 25th May 2004 at the age of 74. Amin Amini was born in Mashad on the 23rd March 1930 and lived the sort of life that most people could only dream about, with the many ups and many downs which made him an incredibly strong individual, who i can honestly say made me feel safe and secure at all times. By the time he was 25 years old he had travelled most of Europe and spent two years in Hollywood in California where he studied to be an Actor/Director under the supervision of people such as Stanley Kramer, who was one of the most Influential Directors of all time. Upon his return to Iran he didn't waste any time pursuing his Film career, and in a very short amount of time became a national film Icon and an instantly recognisable celebrity with a career spanning over 2 decades where he made over 60 films, some of which he starred in as well as directed, wrote and produced. This is an incredible achievement for a man who lived in a country like Iran, but when you consider that he achieved all of this as a Jewish man living in a muslim country, then you can begin to understand what this man has really achieved in his life. But his greatest achievement as he always liked to tell us was marrying my mother Farzaneh whom he loved dearly, and the birth of his 5 children Ephraim, Nicky, Layla, Melanie and Stefanie, whom he loved more than life itself. His incredible Film career sadly ended when the Iranian revolution began in 1979 when he had no choice but to leave Iran, and decided to move to London, England where he spent the rest of his life. The move to London coincided with the the loss of his eldest son Ephraim who passed away at the age of 14 due to cancer. This event destroyed all of us, but mostly my father. But in 1982 my parents decided that the only way they could get through the loss of their son is to have another child. That child turned out to be a pair of healthy and beautiful Twin girls by the names of Melanie and Stefanie who were my fathers saviours. Since we left Iran in such a hurry the day after the Shah left in 1979, my father made many trips back to Iran for business, but when he was there he once again enjoyed public recognition as people treated him like the star that he was everywhere he went. I guess he never really got used to not having the recognition since living in London, and i know that was very difficult for him after all the years that he put into his work. But when he used to come back from his trips to Iran there was always stories of how people recognised him and came up to him in the streets and talked about his films. That made him so happy and proud. Unfortunately when the Iranian Revolution started in 1979 and those extremists took over the country, they destroyed most of my fathers Film reels and master copies, but the people didn't forget him. Even now Pirate copies of a few of his films are circulating persian communities world-wide and are regularly played on Persian TV channels in the USA and other countries. My father Amin Amini was my hero, and we all love him and miss him dearly. May your good soul rest in peace. All my love, your loving son, Nicky
