We are an independent clothing label just trying our luck here. Our first collection promotes Malaysian Pop Culture. Mixes with Arabic script and Pop Art. Pop Malaya merchandise is basically coming with good designs, original ideas and concepts that people here in Malaysia (hopefully in other countries too) can really respond and relate to. We believe, to achieve a certain amount of authenticity in our work is to inject inspirations that we get everyday. Add a little local flavor if u will. It is also a matter of self satisfaction knowing that people are digging what we are doing. It has been in our subconscious minds for a little while now. But things truly got moving when Zul and Ijam got tired of the daily grind and decided to start doing something that we have mutual interest in and can be proud of. And we managed to seduce Azyzeer and Adam to join our team.
The name Pop Malaya was an inspiration from the 80's local film 'Kembara Seniman Jalanan'. there's just something bout M.Nasir wearing a headband we suppose...We mainly go with the philosophy we conjured along the way which goes, 'Pakai, Buang, Suka Hati Korang...' which is basically a no-non sense carefree attitude. Frankly, we just love and thrive on the things we do. So whether or not people like what they're seeing we truly can't be be bothered we guess.
We're just a couple of crazy kids doing our thing. It's all about fun and passion. Our brand ambassador: Free Love . Our inspirations: Old school Malay films, Bas Mini, wayang kulit, batik, kartun Gila-Gila, Kicap Tamin, etc. Basically, stuffs we grew up with and see everyday. We're very sentimental geeks.
