What the hell is going on out here?

About Me

Well, where do I begin? I'm 28 and I'm kinda at a crossroads in my life. My first career was a brief but very enjoyable ride through the world of radio, oh well, better to burn out than fade away... So now I have set my sights on grad school. Come fall, I will be going to SU to pursue my Masters in Media Studies, and eventually a PhD. I hope to become a teacher or professor, because after all, those who can't do, teach... Seriously though, teaching's in my blood, like my whole mother's side of the family, so I think I'll be very good at it. I'm into good music, spending time with friends, going places on the weekends, watching movies, and just generally having fun. The way I see it, you only go this way once so you may as well make the most of it. I LOVE to laugh. I have a twisted sense of humor (Family Guy, Foamy the Squirrel, Monty Python), but once you get past that, I'm just as normal as anyone else... *ahem* New York Mets MySpace Layout

My Interests

music, photography, hanging out, writing, sports, the New York Mets, movies, stuff...

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking for interesting people. I do like meeting and getting to know new people, especially since doing that on MySpace is so pressure-free. People who are into the same things I'm into are welcome. Also, I'd love to find old friends on here, from West Genny, from the old OCC group, from Susquehanna, from my various radio stops of the past. If you knew me when, I wanna hear from you... it's just MySpace, it's not like I'm asking you to donate a kidney...

Music:

Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Jet, Green Day, Beatles, Grateful Dead, Steely Dan, STP, Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band, R.E.M., Rolling Stones... basically rock of all kinds

Movies:

Team America, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, all the Kevin Smith movies (especially "Clerks"), Rocky, James Bond movies, American Pie, Scary Movie, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, School of Rock, PCU

Television:

lately I've become addicted to 24, I don't know why it took me so long to get into that show... I also like Heroes, South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy, Smallville, Seinfeld, That 70s Show, Blue Collar TV, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Drawn Together, My Name Is Earl, How I Met Your Mother, The Tick (all 8 episodes of it, haha)... I also like a lot of the classics (Cosby, All In the Family, Monty Python's Flying Circus, SNL, Soap, etc.)

Books:

never really have time to read anymore, but in the past, I've liked John Grisham novels, a little sci-fi and fantasy, particularly Robert Asprin's stuff, and "Radio Waves" by Jim Ladd

Heroes:

I don't have any real specific heroes, I pretty much respect anyone who makes the most of their God-given talents and are generally good people (which rules out most pro athletes...)

My Blog

There's No "I" In Team... But There Is a "Me"

I get that our sports scene these days emphasizes the individual at the expense of the team. We care more about the exploits of "me first" athletes over the great team efforts in sports. But it doesn'...

The Endless Summer... Movie Season

Sorry if I'm late on my summer movie previews, but I'm a purist... someone who believes that the start of the "summer movie season" should be the actual START OF SUMMER.  Although I guess people ...

Not the Madness I Was Hoping For

The NCAA Tournament is upon us and normally for those of us here in Syracuse, that means cheering on our beloved Orange as they play for that trip to the F**** F***... yeah, I can't say that one eithe...

What's Wrong With Local Radio? What ISN'T?

As I am now officially a grad student-to-be at one of the most prestigious communications schools in the country (name withheld because I'd rather they not toss me out before day ONE due to this blog)...

Okay, time for my Grammy review

Having read other people's Grammy reviews, I naturally now have to give my own.  First off, great way to open the show... no big production or announcer guy, just Sting proclaiming, "We are the P...

Rock the Hall

Maybe it's a sure sign you're getting old when bands who you've loved and listened to for years, whose albums you either own all of or are pretty close to owning all of, are getting inducted into the...
