About Me

Hello, I am Alan Begley, a songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. Welcome to my page. I have been writing songs for a couple of decades and co-founded the Songwriters Night in the International Bar way back in the mid eighties. This was the first gig in Dublin to call itself a songwriters night and to demand original material from performers. Ancient history now that open mic nights and singer/songwriter gigs are ten-a-penny but back then, when we were the only one.....it mattered!!!!Many interesting and talented people passed through during our 9 year run, some of them were famous then - some are famous now! Good luck to them all.Since then, I got married, raised some children, worked a day-job to pay the bills and continued to write & play. I have had a long-time partnership with Nashville born guitar-picker Satch Wright. We have been through several incarnations over the last 20+ years. Right now, together with friends Colin on bass, Arty on drums and Joe on pedal steel, we are Spirit Riders (myspace.com/spiritriderband) - we play a mixture of classic country, blues and my original songs and we kick ass!!!!Other sites where I have a presence http://www.noisehead.com/mypage/alanbegley http://songplanet.com/alanbegley DSFM (www.ontheverge.ie / www.myspace.com/onthevergeradio),Thank you for visiting my page and I hope you enjoyed the music!
