Living at: Fajardo, Puerto Rico.In 1984 at the age of 14 Richard was hipnotize by the art of mixing while watching the movie "Beat Street". Inspired by the caracter Kenny (DJ Doble K) played by Guy Davis in the movie Richard rapidly started a music colection of those wonderful songs played in Beat Street. At the time Richard had no money to buy professional DJ gear, he only had a Panasonic Stereo. Not even that limitation could stop him from becoming what stole his heart.... mixing music, becoming a DJ. He started practicing playing one song in the cassette player while adding another song with the record player and using a finger to keep it in beat . In 1987 he got as a birthday gift his first Technics SL-1200 MK2 Turntable. Richard kept using the home stereo and his new TT till January 1989 when he was discovered by Programming Director Paquito Soto Jr. and gave him his first shot to show his skills as a DJ mixing for the radio station Y-96 FM in Fajardo PR. He started to work as a Radio DJ and mix DJ for the station and made enough money to complete his DJ gear.DJ Doctor Style known as Richie DJ in 1989 became a professional DJ mixing Freestyle, House, Hip Hop, Techno and New Wave for the radio station Y-96FM in Puerto Rico. In the early 90's he was guest DJ for other radio shows like; Club Mix, Club Mix USA from La Mega Estación 106.9 FM and "El Expreso Mañanero" on Delta 107.3 FM Arecibo PR, made an appearance at TV Dance show called "Party Time" in WAPA TV Channel 4 Puerto Rico as guest DJ and recently guest DJ for "The Party Zone" on La X 100.7 FM in Bayamón PR.DJ Doctor Style's favorite genre is FREESTYLE.Almost all old school DJs have moved to new genres like Trance, Tribal, DNB and other electronic music and don't want to look back to the music that was their foundation as a DJ. Doctor Style started as a professional DJ playing Freestyle and still plays it. No matter how many new genre of music come out He always has time to mix and play Freestyle.
