Big City House @ W Lounge every 2nd Saturday My Bio:
Completely obsessed with music it was only natural for him to become a DJ.
Josh Max is an only child and in his youth music was his only constant companion. He rarely went outside without his boom box or red Michael Jackson signature Walkman. Josh spent hours studying and singing along to his parent's vinyl collection of old R&B, 60's Progressive Rock and Disco.
As a teen Josh was introduced to Electronic Music, initially through Daft Punk and DJ Keoki. This was a gateway to the bigger world of Electronic Dance Music he discovered while frequenting clubs around Salt Lake City. Josh was swept up into the local Trance Music scene, which soon led him to the deeper, more musical and soulful sounds of House.
"The Vybe" Hot 94.9's underground dance music radio show hosted by DJ Shawn Philips introduced Josh to the heart and history of the House genre, taking him beyond just the party scene usually associated with Dance Music. The more organic and soulful nature of House reconnected Josh to his roots in Rock, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz.
Longing to be the one in the DJ booth. He soon picked up some cheap turntables along with a shoddy mixer and was determined to teach himself how to mix. He did... and so began his ceaseless quest for the unique, sexy tracks that have become his signature groove.
Recently Josh joined forces with Ms. KinetiK and Dan Dixon to form the DJ collective Big City House. Big City House has taken the local scene by storm. Contributing to the resurgence of the House Music community in Salt Lake City. Their 2nd Saturday monthly at the W Lounge is already the not to be missed party, and their Thursday night weekly at JAM is rapidly gaining momentum. "BCH" is also regularly seen playing special one-offs and guest spots. Inter-state DJ exchanges are also on the horizon. Do your funky self a favor and keep a constant eye on Big City House.
Josh's newest and truest desire is become more involved in the creation of this seductive music. Josh has been studying audio and production theory for over 5 years, and has recently been putting that knowledge to the test. Together with his cousin Saint Even, they formed a side project, Vuetone. Under this moniker they produced a remix for Kaskade's hit single "Sorry" which was released on Ultra Records. Josh is currently working on honing his production and song writing skills. A solo venture introducing some of his his broad vocal abilities is in the works.
With so much talent and passion, Josh Max's story has only just begun.
