Jason Whited has certainly been spending a lot of time at the Bayou Recording Studio over the past several years, and the country singer-songwriter and lyricist readily admits he is very pleased with this, his second self-released album: a follow-up to his 2005 debut “Scarecrow King†album, which continues to receive out-standing reviews and international airplay.
With almost two decades of performing and recording experience backing his hard-work and diligent efforts while pursing a music career, Jason Whited has pulled out all the stops! Big Time is exactly that—it has all the expected ingredients of a Big Time production; jam-packed with the unmistakable sound of Nashville’s finest musicians playing top-quality songs, all orchestrated by band leader extraordinaire Joe Spivey, a multi-talented musician who is considered one of the best fiddle players on Music Row and a fourteen-year member of the John Anderson band. Whited, a self-admitted perfectionist, worked diligently alongside George Clinton, and together they produced an album they are both extremely proud of. “It’s a winner,†George remarked. Jason agreed—Big Time is all he had hoped, and dreamed it would be!
Perhaps this high school teacher from Middle Tennessee, with a voice that’s been described time after time as “pristineâ€, who clearly enjoys singing—has his sights set on the Big Time in a big way. One thing is for certain… by no means is the singer making a trite statement when he says, “I hope you enjoy the music as much as I enjoy bringing it to you.†Jason Whited is a stylist in the truest sense, and the emotion and confidence his vocals exude while bringing listeners his music is up-lifting and down-right refreshing.
“Big Time is a collection of strong tunes impeccably executed!â€
Whited co-wrote the title-track, “Big Time†as well as “I Went Down To Nashvilleâ€, “Wrong Thing Rightâ€, “Lyin’ Togetherâ€, and self-penned “I Know I’m Goin’ To Heavenâ€. Jason’s former J T Country Acoustic Duo partner, Tom Lamb wrote “I Forgot To Thank Herâ€. After hearing the demo of “Let Me Down Easyâ€. Jason contacted co-writers Scott Allen Metro and Don Paul Moore and said, “This is a terrific country ballad, it has all the qualities of a classic traditional standard, I’d really like to cut it.†Whited is proud to be the first artist to record “Steady As She Goes†co-written by Terry Brown and Aaron Tippin, and also “Love Makes A Fool Of Us Allâ€, penned by Nashville hit-makers Skip Ewing & the legendary Max D. Barnes. The last track on the album is a cover version of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cryâ€. Whited said he wanted to record it because; “it’s one of the saddest and greatest country songs I’ve ever heard."
