Born January 24, 1943 in a small Cotton Mill Town Hospital in Porterdale, Georgia. I couldn’t have picked any better parents than Virgil and Gordie Mae. I was the fifth of six children. I attended the first through the eighth grades at Porterdale Grammar School. My four years of high school was at Newton County High School in Covington, Georgia. After high school I went to work in the cotton mill as a machinist apprentice. After several years I left the mill and went to work for an Automatic Sprinkler Company as a pipe welder. After leaving the Sprinkler Company I got back into the machinist trade as a mold builder for a plastic molding company. As time went on I became the supervisor of the mold shop and did all the design of any new product molds for the company. I also learned how to program the computer-operated machines in the mold shop before the plants closing. After the closing of the plant and due to some health problem I was forced to retire..................................................... This past year I have joined a non-profit "Friends of Porterdale, Inc." We are going to raise money to help the City of Porterdale rebuild the Gym that burned in 2005.
