Sven Martin

Sven Martin grew up in Wuelfrath, a small town in Germany close to Duesseldorf where he started classical piano lessons at age eight. Being more inspired by what he was hearing on the radio than learning to play a song note by note he soon discovered that his real musical talent was being able to play by ear. He started to explore the worlds of synthesizers at age 12 and got into MIDI and recording after buying an Atari ST computer at age 15. His band Darius, which he started shortly after, later went on to release 3 CDs and played in several European countries. In 1996 Sven got accepted at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Duesseldorf to study Audio- and Video Engineering, one of only two state schools in the country to offer this program. There he studied recording, music theory, video editing, electronics and gained valuable studio experience. In his spare time he worked for a major German event company and improved his knowledge of live gear and performance on big Rock festivals, TV shows and corporate events. While doing an internship at famous Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood in late 1999, he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a professional music career: I probably always had this thought in mind, but I was never really ready to give up everything I had back home, until it became clear to me that I always wanted to do this...! His main focus in the first years was getting his Pro Tools and Production chops up after buying his first Mac based system to record the debut album of his band Driven (former Life Death & Giants). Since then he has been producing and recording various LA based artists at his project studio The Kraproom such as Jane Fontana, Natalia Lapina and Noa Tishby and German artists b-impatient and 7th Seal. September 2002 Sven became musical director and keyboardist for Interscope recording artist t.A.T.u. (produced by Trevor Horn) and programmed and mixed down their backing tracks for their upcoming promotional tour. Since then he appeared with t.A.T.u. on several major national TV shows, such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, MTVs TRL, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Jimmy Kimmel live, MAD TV, Last Call with Carson Daly. On May 31st 2003 Sven was part of t.A.T.u.’s legendary performance at the MTV movie awards 2003 as 200 girl dancers in school uniforms locked lips! Remixes for t.A.T.u. and Monster Magnet followed as well as various songs for MIG Records recordings artists Fantasy Twins and Adrienne Lau. In 2004 Sven toured the US and Canada as keyboardist for indie icon Liz Phair with the Cardigans, Katy Rose and Charlotte Martin. Later that year his own new band Collision finished their debut EP which he co-wrote and produced.

Troy Maccubbin

Troy grew up on a small farm, in a small country town called Traralgon, two hours outside of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. He grew up around music and often played in his fathers band. After years of learning guitar from his dad and playing in many different bands, Troy sought out professional guitar lessons from renowned guitar teacher, Tony Calabro, who Troy would study with for the next 8 years. However, it was in 1991 that Troy made a decision that would change his life. Against the advice of his friends and family, he quit his Fitter & Turner/Machinist apprenticeship to become a professional musician. His dream was to eventually move to America and study music and after saving for 6 years, Troy finally had the money to make the big move.In March of 1997, Troy moved to Hollywood, California to study music. I remember getting off the bus from the airport, standing on the corner of Hollywood and Highland thinking what the hell have I gotten myself into?California was expensive and he ran through his savings quickly. He worked any job he could get just to survive. Troy did everything from delivering flowers, auditioning for commercials, TV shows, film and modeling swimwear, to even impersonating Austin Powers for his movie releases. Despite his struggles, Troy stayed in the US and slowly but surely, began to land music gigs. He worked with a soap star actress from The Bold & the Beautiful, to go on to win Best Rock performance at the LA Music Awards and Phil Bardowell, who played with the Beach Boys. Phil recruited Troy as lead guitarist and backup singer for his original project. After that project ended, Troy joined an outfit with bay area singer Chaz Ross to form the band Life Death & Giants, where he would team up with band members Sven Martin & Domen Vajevec. At the end of this project Troy & Sven were approached by Interscope Records to play for a new up and coming act from Russia, called TATU. In 2003, TATU exploded into the international arena. Finally, Troy was living his dream and playing on various TV shows across America from Jay Leno and MTVs TRL LIVE to the memorable performance at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards. While TATU took some time off, Troy worked with numerous Artists including Kelly Clarkson & Enrique Igelsias. TATU released a new album in 2005 and the girls wanted Troy back to support them. Today Troy continues to tour with TATU playing to audiences of thousands, while also finding time to work on his own original material. Troy is currently in the studio working on his debut album due out very soon.
