About Me

I’m from a small town in New York called Pine Bush. You can find Greek people anywhere! I come from a loving, supportive – very close family. My mother had me take piano lessons for about eleven years. Thank you Mom.At Georgetown they say I studied International Affairs but I’m sure the major was really in House Music. After dabbling in promotions, a capella singing, bartending, clarinet-playing, languages, Presidential Campaigns, an independent film and a whole score of other escapades I settled in with Biotechnology and…singing and writing music.A close community of friends with similar interests here in DC have created and fostered this love. My initial trips to the Winter Music Conference were as a fan of our home-town House Music Titans. No names mentioned. This introduced me to an ongoing collaboration with Lee Kalt who provided me the first and best platform to express the songs that I had been writing in my head, on post-its and on my walls for several years. After completing my masters in Biotechnology I have been given the opportunity to work with an amazing group of people who will undoubtedly be part of a transformation in the practice of medicine. This is a field that will never stop evolving. And somehow, it goes hand in hand with a love for music. From the other side of the Aegean came a man into my life whose best attributes are the same as my beloved father. He patiently tolerates the sounds coming out of my own studio - unless our Doberman puppy decides to eat the wires. They say the life informs art and I have a lot more living to do. I’ll keep you posted.-Athana Sia
