Kurtsjazz

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Kurt Skjaevestad has been performing professionally since 1999 both as a pianist and vocalist spanning genres such as jazz, pop, r&b, funk and rock. After receiving a scholarship in 2000 to attend McGill University in jazz performance, Kurt studied with piano greats Tilden Webb, juno nominated Jeff Johnston, and Jazz Jarczyk. In 2008 he played in Montreal’s prestigious international jazz festival with avant-garde jazz group, The Thundertones. He is currently playing regularly in and out of town with various groups including The Monica Shore Quartet, The Thundertones, Kurt Skjaevestad Duo, Kalmunity, and leads the funk/soul band, GrooveAttic.
