About Me

I am Cotten Wilburn. I started playing guitar in 1973. I’ve played in many bands and done a few shows along the way. I learned how to record from my Dad, Neil Wilburn from hanging around in the studio as a kid. I took tech classes in electronics in the early 80’s, read a lot of books, and get tips from my brother Dan (a sound man, plus…). I started writing lyrics seriously in the early 90’s. At that time, I became interested in making my own midi tracks and have kept up with the technology ever since. In the early 2000’s I started recording with digital systems, cakewalk, logic, and finally settled in on protools. I also started playing bass then, mainly because a friend needed a bass player, and I also needed a bass for my own tracks. All In all, I’ve been playing around at it for about 33 years minus the time it took to survive. I really like recording, but guitar is my passion, and I'm developing a fondness for the bass. I have a large body of work including lyrics, beats, and complete songs for sale. Now I have a protools rig and record myself, friends and sometimes a client here and there. But most of the work on this page is mine from the writing, instrumentation, programming, recording, mixing, and the making of production calls. However because of my limitations I sometimes trade for drum and vocal skills. Kind of works like this, “I’ll record your song for you, if you’ll do a vocal track on my song.” I guess I’d work on just about anything as long as I can stand to listen to it for an extended period of time. If you listen to my work and think you could use any of my skills send word.I’m going to create art regardless of whatever else I do. So that being said, I‘m looking for work where I dread the weekend and look forward to Monday or better yet don’t even know what day of the week it is. I want to work with people that know what they’re doing and love it. Explorers that can laugh while weathering a storm and come out of it with something worth while. I have to be challenged. I don’t carry a clock around with me but I subscribe to the ideal that on time is usually late. Good intentions and promises don’t mean shit, I base decisions on peoples history, and my own experience. I’m just pursuing my dream. I’m good to go and I’ll roll with you in a heart beat if your trying to do something worth while.Oh Yea! Thanks for listening.Cotten WilburnThis Myspace ceated by Cotten Wilburn - Copyright 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.
