About Me

I live near Winters, CA with my wife, Diane, and play, repair and build stringed instruments. I play folk, blues and country music on mandolin, harmonica, cello, Hawaiian guitar, guitar, fiddle, banjo, etc and improvised music and jazz on string bass. Most of the instruments are homemade or old, broken and repaired. I'm lucky to play with all kinds of musicians playing all kinds of music. --- I build Commodiums and make messes in my shop. Playing music with other people feels like we're all plugged into the hum at the center of the world. Play music, it lights your hair on fire.-------If you want to know more about the instruments I build, particularly the Commodium (bedpan mandolin), go to my funky homemade website, keithcary.com. If you want to know more about the songs I've chosen to upload, try the Lyrics button under the song.-----For Barking Spiders (Bob Armstrong, Keith and sometimes Doug) songs and info go to the Barking Spiders site, located among my top friends, of course........For Axelrod, Cary and Foss I heartily recommend that you go to http://www.myspace.com/axelrodcaryandfoss (for some reason I can't get them/us to show up in my friends) ...... I can also be contacted at [email protected].

J. Brown

I love my Country; I love my Western, but when the day is done and it's all added up is anything heavier, sexier, dancier, more subtle and more blunt than James Brown?
