Won't Stop Swingin' Til' I Drop

About Me

LiL D, a Rap pioneer of the 530, became fascinated with Hip Hop at nine years old. By junior high, he had formed a dance crew who battled at any event that they could get into. In high school, LiL D took his love for hip hop even further when he hung up his dancing shoes and picked up the mic with 3 close homies, (Bubb C, E Funk and DJ Ice Man), to form M.V.P. As the first group in the YC to cut a CD, M.V.P. became hometown heroes when they got their first distribution deal with BMG in 2001 for their debut album, ”Cali Kingz”. Since that time, LiL D had completed a second CD, “Disfunktional Behavior”, with the group and has now made his way as a solo artist. As a seasoned performer, LiL D has taken his music to the next level with his first solo CD, “The City Prophet”. With his descriptive rhyme style and powerful delivery on tracks such as “Test Me”, “Can’t Stop” and “Show Me Some Happiness Again”, LiL D is able to keep you listening from beginning to end. With influences that range from Ice Cube and E-40 to Nas and Jay-Z, LiL D is able to balance his West Coast Image and East Coast rhyme patterns. LiL D is a student of Hip Hop and displays his appreciation of the history on his remake version of 1988’s Hip Hop classic, “The Symphony”. LiL D also shows his appreciation for the Old School on the albums biggest heater, “Won’t Stop Swingin’”, a remake of The Brothers Johnson’s hit, “Strawberry Letter 22”. “The City Prophet” Is a well-rounded CD full of dope beats and Rhymes. It’s deep, it keeps your head bobbin’, and it represents the area. Most of all this project is well written and produced. No doubt, a 530 classic!

Sounds Like: I'm not comparing myself to him, but I would say my writing style is simular to Nas. I'm a story teller.
