Who is Javon?

Nostalgia brings smiles and tears, joy and pain. Are you there again?R&B singer Javon makes good music, music that will be the greatest measurement of someone’s time.Javon breathes his soul – a soul blessed with good nature – into the microphone. Once you hear his voice you are instantly touched, your soul stirs as the moment records. Javon’s lyrics are well crafted like a great grandmother’s hand-sewn quilt. His words are thrown around your shoulders; they surround you, they make you feel warm. Speakers amplify the emotion; time stands still. Like a Polaroid picture the moment is forever captured. You can’t shake it. And whether it’s a few moments from now or twenty years later, you’ll look back on that one moment in time and say, “Thank you, Javon.”THAT is the measure of good music. Javon is the new measuring stick.At just twenty years-of-age, Javon is a singer with a lot of time ahead of him. Born April 27th, Javon began singing as soon as he could talk; his career began in his Grand Rapids, MI community.“I’ve been singing, basically, all my life,” he says. “I can’t see myself doing anything else but singing.”At age 7 he sang his first solo at Bethel Pentecostal Church. Once in middle school, and through his high school years, Javon would compete in local talent shows – winning numerous trophies. Doors began to open for him as people would invite, and hire Javon to sing at community events and high school graduations.“People started calling me to sing, and they would pay me,” he remembers.Already familiar with gaining recognition for his talents at home, and learning early that entertaining is a business, Javon is working toward the same recognition on a national level. Having great admiration for Stevie Wonder, Javon plans to leave a positive mark on the world like his role model before him, touching and inspiring through his song-writing and singing abilities.“My ultimate Stevie Wonder favorite song is ‘Love’s In Need of Love,’” Javon says. “I have a song that I wrote called ‘Love’s The Key.’ It’s about a little girl with low self-esteem, and nobody told her she was beautiful. I’m telling her how beautiful she is, and how love can help her overcome everything.”Javon’s music appeals to young and old, music lovers of the past and present. “I sing for all audiences,” he says. “But at the same time I’m going to be young and hip. My music is not going to be too far out to where they won’t feel it.”Working with producer-singer-songwriter Big Mel (XPOZ Magazine’s Independent Artist of The Year 2005), Javon is confident about the future of his music career. Different from many of his younger R&B peers, Javon will shake current musical trends by creating trends of his own. “I write more-so about real love than just sex, and things like that,” he says. “Loving making: that’s all cool, but I want to make songs people will remember because it touched their hearts.”Good music is the greatest measurement of time.
