I love art, especially if it breaks new ground-or was groundbreaking in it's time.I grew up surrounded by great art as my mother is an artist and has been quite involved in both the Dallas art world, and the New York art world; she just received another artist award in New York from the Audubon Society - the Richeson Gold Brush Award for 2007! I am very proud of my mother. She came to America (from the Netherlands where she grew up) to study art in New York in the 1960s and 70s; and she raised me there. She studied at the Pratt Institute of New York, and at the New School for Social Research in New York founded by Mark Rothko. She lived in the village in the 60s and socialized with the artists and literati of that exciting and turbulent time. She has taken over 30 years to develop to her style - she has her art featured in shows just about every month of the year in Dallas and other cities. You can google "EliSabeth Schalij" for more info on her ! She is represented by the innovative and cutting edge Haley Henman gallery in Dallas near the Trinity River,The legendary Belmont Hotel, and downtown, and is having another show there this summer PUBLIC OPENING RECEPTION ON SATURDAY JULY 11TH FROM 7-10PM AT THE HALEY HANMAN GALLERY.She also shows at many other galleries in Dallas such as the BCC on White Rock Lake.
I have been a Realtor in Texas since 1995,a proud member of TREPAC, NAR, METROTEX, DFW REALTORS, MLS and many other real estate focused organizations such as PRESERVATION DALLAS. I can show and sell any MLS listed property in Texas, but I mainly work in the Dallas/DFW/Metroplex area. I am a consistent multi-million dollar producer. I also handle short sales/pre-foreclosure negotiations, foreclosures, HUD and rental/investment property, and leasing both residential and commercial.I represent my clients with dedication. Now is definitely the best time to buy property in many years since the interest rates are the lowest they have been in over five decades right now and real estate prices are truly excellent, I show my buyers amazing bargains every day even though Dallas was not as affected by the bubble as many other markets and Dallas has one of the most healthy real estate markets in the U.S. If you've never been to Dallas then you probably would be surprised by how much it has to offer including the largest urban arts district in the U.S.(of which I am a supporter).Dallas also features the largest urban wetlands area in the U.S.,several large lakes,as well as a large selection of excellent art galleries, wonderful museums such as the Modern(Fort Worth),the remarkable Nasher Sculpture Garden in downtown Dallas, and the Dallas Museum of Art,or "DMA" as it is fondly known.Dallas also offers a great symphony, top notch opera, all sorts of concerts, theatre, and world class shopping(the home of Neiman Marcus).Greater Dallas has over 10,000 restaurants(more per capita than NYC),great places to hang out, play pool, etc.I enjoy my good friends here in Dallas. As a Realtor I show all real estate listings including lofts, condos,townhouses,high-rises/penthouses,distinctive homes, town homes, condos,HUD properties, investment properties, and commercial space. In most cases, you really could own for less than renting, and have a very good return on your investment, instead of hundreds of dollars out the window each month if you are renting. And of course when people need to lease a property for a while I am very happy to help them also.My primary market area is quite large;it includes Lakewood(where I live, near beautiful White Rock Lake),East Dallas(including all of the historic districts-I am a Preservation Dallas member),Munger Place,Forest Hills,Little Forest Hills,Casa Linda,"M Streets",University Park & Highland Park (AKA "park cities"),Preston Hollow,Bluffview,Devonshire,Greenway Park,Greenway Crest,Oak Lawn/Uptown,Turtle Creek,Knox Park,West Village, downtown Dallas,Bryan Place,North Dallas,Northwood Hills,Plano,Spring Park,Windmill Hills,Canyon Creek,Richardson,West Dallas,South Dallas,Kessler Park,Winnetka Heights,Bishop Arts District in North Oak CLiff(I co-chaired the Oak Cliff MLS for 2007),Wynnewood,Elmwood,Druid Hills, Garland,Mesquite,Duncanville,Cedar Hill,Arlington, and Fort Worth as well as other areas.I can also help you find a commercial space!Just send me a message with your needs, preferences, and price range - and I will start working on it,including getting you excellent financing.I work real estate 7 days a week. I have many interests other than art and real estate.I like people as long as they are honest and friendly - and especially if I can learn from them.I enjoy good conversation about all sorts of subjects.I enjoy interesting art and architecture.I like all sorts of music as long as it isn't hackneyed, overly contrived, saccharine or blatantly commercial, I enjoy listening to classical, jazz, rock, pop, and experimental music.I love my work as a REALTOR, and MORTGAGE loan originator,I have many loyal clients in this town, and I am always looking for new ones. I've been selling real estate in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for over 14 years. I show ALL listed properties of ALL brokers in North Texas,I help people get affordable financing for their homes and investment properties through our full service mortgage company. I also sell houses for my clients - many who first tried to sell their house themselves and realized that there is a lot more to it than they thought -including the fact that most buyers will go through a Realtor anyway (because Realtors help guide their clients through the many problems that may arise during the transaction - from inspection, title issues, survey issues, financing issues, property values, etc.).I have extensive experience representing buyers, sellers, landlords, investors, and renters (tenants),and marketing, selling and leasing properties of ALL types.I also handle relo listings, and serve executive relocation buyers for our corporate relocation division.
I am always looking for properties to list, and for new clients in the Dallas and Fort Worth area - I have many clients whom have bought and sold multiple properties from me - and many have become my friends. I am here to help answer your real estate/mortgage questions.
My family wanted me to have a European education (both of my parents studied in Europe)so I studied business economics, and marketing in England for three years - in Exeter at Exeter University, and Exeter Business School (linked to Exeter College), where I received my HNC in Business Management and Marketing.Exeter is close to Torquay - where Fawlty Towers was set. Exeter is a lovely town in Devon County – part of England’s “Westcountry†with structures remaining from the Roman Empire’s occupation of ancient Albion.
I was raised in the mid-sized hamlet of Yonkers, New York in Westchester county where my mother(an artist and business woman from The Netherlands)and "papa"(a businessman, and hail fellow well met from a well to do Kansas clan)had purchased a Victorian home on the Hudson River - complete with a pond and a gazebo, around 1970.One day they found an article in a periodical about an orphanage in Bogota,Colombia run by an ex-president's wife. They soon made arrangements to adopt out of that orphanage where they found me soon after, I was still a bit soggy.
I began my schooling in Hastings-on-Hudson at a small Catholic School.Soon I continued my studies in the Westchester public school system.I enjoyed reading very much (as I do today),my parents had a wonderful library stocked with great books including many theatrical works by playwrights such as Shakespeare, Ibsen, Tennessee Williams, Chekhov,Beckett, etc.I spent most of my time making friends, discussing all sorts of dreams and ideas, sailing with my father, writing short stories, bike rides, drawing, reading,or playing outside if it wasn't too cold or wet. I had some great times with my friends in NY.I don't miss the freezing cold winters though. However,I do miss the beauty of the autumnal flourish of colours along the Hudson River Valley in October, and sailing on that great river on a somewhat blustery autumn day.
I would like to dedicate this page to my very dear friend Peter Leslie Fleet who passed away on July 1,2008 in Dallas. He was born in Bowie Maryland on May 26,1969, the day of the momentous Apollo 10's successful splashdown. He was a wonderful, utterly unique, and very kind person, with a very quick wit.And he was never fake or phoney. He did like to be brutally honest though, which was very endearing, if you could take it with a grain of salt.He was the type of guy who would always help out other people, with very little concern for himself. And he would rescue stray animals on a regular basis. And he loved his own pets, most of all his loyal Jack Russell terrier "Ajax" who he adored.
I will always miss him.If you ever ate at Pappadeaux in Richardson from 1999-2008, he may have been your server. He made me a better person, and I am so very grateful for the time I spent with him.R.
