JAVIER DURAN: bass guitar string instruments vocals trumpet writer arranger minor percussion, drum machine user, recorder and mixer...Grew up moving thru cities of wonderful Venezuela, since a kid always music not only in my home yet in my culture, dancing with Dona Emilia mi abuelita always the biggest pleasure, ballenatos , paso dobles, merengues, boleros, guaguanco, salsa, music from the old world combined with the new Africa here in America...Tambores en la zona de Bobure y en El Callejon de Hamel en La Habana music of power and Santeria "the guy who doesn't dance don't have a chance" musica llanera from Apure and the occidental plains down to the Pampas in Argentina great friends great food always Familia everywhere...The Caribbean warm and moving, so much music in those islands;Cubita querida con el changui el guaguanco y el jazz afro cubano, Puerto Rico mi hermano por conocer con su salsa de colores y bomba, La Republica nos dio el merengue que mas pedir, and Jamaica gave us music of the Spirit with the I & I respect, calipso in Trinida y Tobago tiny islands on the end of the carribbean ridge of floating islands close to Brazil, Africa en cada una de estas culturas, Africa in each of these cultures....Brazil Belleza Pura!!!Moved to the states discovered and dug deep into the blues which took me to jazz, the one music which if you can play, you can play most any other style of music, also the driven steady slick beat of the funk, and the sixties and early seventies produce great rock & roll, end of story...Moved to the bay area from the cold east coast Boston is also home yet San Fran is the bomb, a whole month on my woman crossing this beautiful country five hundred miles at a time to crossed that hanging Golden Bridge, to gathered Chocolate Jesus which performed in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Pacifica, Mill Valley and San Rafael for over three years...Love traveling ever since which has taken me places of great beauty and exceptional music, expent nine months in La Habana Cuba studying music at the CENSEA and performing with La Resistenia a ten piece band and a great family...so i am a lover of music in general, not an specific genre, simply good music, and i can only hope that these reflects in my playing and my music....
